“Mitchell’s restructured deal includes 425k in hard money & 60k in playtime bonuses (the same amount of PT as in Maier’s deal). Also includes a 100k signing bonus. @CFLonTSN https://t.co/Ny3hjod3si”

I think this was a guy that could have provided us with some options at kicker this season. Wish him well in Hamilton.
“K Dante Brown, #Elks 2020 5th round pick who was released from the team's PR at the end of the season has signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. #CFL”

Crap, thought he had the potential to both kicking jobs here. Outstanding stats in NCAA ball. He wasn't on our FA list, wonder if he wanted out of here , closer to home now.

The Moj was figuring Whyte could be coming.back home to BC. That the Elks at that time (Tue before Grey Cup) still had Brown on the roster I felt might be a sign of them being willing to let Whyte go. Now I'm not so sure.

BC extends TJ Lee leaving Garry Peters as the only pending FA of note on the defensive side of the ball for McEvoy/Campbell. Any others are depth guys.

Was hoping we'd have a shot at Lucky Whitehead, but the Lions have locked him up.

According to Farhan for $200K this year and $205K in 2023. That likely sets the bar for Duke Williams.

Also makes me wonder what sort of $ the Lions can afford for Bryan Burnham. He's going to be 32 years-old. Usually the drop off point for many receivers.

Lol on Whitehead being the highest paid receiver. He was so good Bombers made him expendable.
No way they can afford to pay Brian Burnham that much money now. He is definitely better than lucky one.
so what will BC do now? I think he is out of there.

I honestly don't know where that will wind up Hugo. I expect Durant's $175K will be gone freeing up a big chuck, some of which will be directed to Whitehead and hopefully some going to offer Cottoy a significant bump. Cottoy did work out with some NFL teams last year but so far this offseason there have yet to be any rumours to that. Other contracts I expect won't be renewed were Figueroa and Rainey. Figs was in the list of highest paid OL but they might be wanting to use that to land a better FA tackle. No idea what sort of money Rainey would have been getting as a return specialist.

Reilly and Burnham are very tight. Maybe the Lions can get Reilly to agree to a haircut to keep his BFF in the fold? I was trying to find that 3D article with the top receiver salaries for this past season. I don't think Burnham made the list so maybe it will take less than one thinks. Then again at 32 he might feel this time around he owes it to himself to test the waters for one last larger payday. Given how late in the game he's agreed to terms in his other times approaching free agency I don't think we'll know which way he will go until the last 24-48 hours of his current contract expiring.

I don't know about Burnham being better. They are considerably different in what they bring to an offense and the team itself. If you want a reliable possession receiver with a rep for highlight reel catches with defenders all over him Burnham is your man. If you want a game breaker who turns a routine catch into a highlight reel play then Lucky is your man. Burnham is the quiet confident leader. By all accounts Lucky brings an outgoing infectious personality to the locker room and sidelines that was really missed when he was out with injury. Whitehead also brings game breaking return capabilities returning 2 for TDs on only 12 punt returns and 2 KO returns in 2021. Rainey will be gone providing Whitehead the opportunity to be a west coast version of Speedi-B with less attitude.

The other intangible Lucky brings is that his combination of game breaking abilities and outgoing personality make him by far the most marketable face for a team desperately trying to get back to relevance in the market. While it can be debated which of the two is more important on the field it's not even close who is most important from a marketing and ticket sales perspective.

You could go all in on the spinning propeller beanie caps and make a fortune. Find a manufacturer in Mexico.

Happy for both Lucky and the Lions.

No kidding. I was thinking just that a couple weeks ago. There is a great game night promotion just.waiting to happen there. That video of him with the beanie and backpack riding the scooter into the bowels of BC Place was epic.
