I was hoping the Elks would bring in Hervey to be the GM again and have Jones just focus on coaching but I guess not. Smart move by the Ticats to promote him.
Blindly accept whatever they do and if it doesn't work out, I guess there's always next year.

Sort of CFL news, I guess... Nathan Rourke picked up by the Patriots off waivers. Maybe he'll actually get a look before the Patriots' season ends in a few weeks.
Out of my mind; back in five minutes.

It would be great if he had enough of the playbook to play some in the final game.

Hard to guess what plans NE have. They did lose their 3rd stringer yesterday when the Chargers plucked him off the Pats practice squad. That meant they had an immediate for a 3rd QB. Could have been a case of filling an immediate need and doing so with a fresh face they could consider for 2024.

Win a Grey Cup, you deserve an extension, especially if you're a team that few even expected to come out of your division. I don't even think most expected a home playoff game.

Good for them, they earned it.

Also a good reminder of how badly things went after our last Grey Cup. A team builds quickly over two years and wins the ultimate prize, but instead of a press conference announcing extensions for their great work, one guy runs for the hills less than a week later and the other is kicked to the curb one season later.

I look back on Maas' time with us as head coach, and commend him for what he was able to do with the team - especially when Presson & Sunderland were here f'ing things up.

Most of his time was with Rhodes. He only was under Presson for a couple months. But yeah, considering how the team looked the minute he wasn't coach should be a big tell.

Many wanted to say his time here was a disaster but really 3 divisional finals in 4 years and he was 9-9 in the season they missed the playoffs as well. Ultimately he's a good enough coach to get exactly what the teams potential is and looking back he seldom lost against teams worse the Edmonton and didn't lose once against a team than finished behind them in standings in his final year once he started to get his outbursts under control. He just didn't have the soldiers to go further.

He seems more of a players coach with more interaction with them on the sidelines now than when he was here. Players seem ok with going over to talk to him. Seemed like he has settled down more now than when here. One thing i didn't like was that our punt returners " supposedly" were told to just catch the ball and not get into trouble with a fumble trying to get a big return. Not sure if this is fact or fiction, Just something I seem to recall. But JM sure made good use of Worthy and Philpot this year in the return game.
