Good move with Peters, liked him when we had him originally

They were talking about how agents will put the bonus in there so that their client can get a jump on free agency should a team not want to bring them back. They mentioned how AC Leonard was due a 40k bonus and was cut loose before that and signed in Edmonton with a 50k signing bonus. The other side of this is Dane Evans who doesn't have this bonus to trigger a release so he may end up being on the short end of the money once everyone spends their cap money.
There has been a long held misconception about these bonuses which really are not bonuses but rather an advance of the player's salary for the season. Fans get bent and twisted when the team releases a player before he receives the salary advance. The reality is it's the agents who want them not the team for the reasons you state. Fact is they carry more risks for the team than for the player. Successful recruiting the previous year could produce a better player. They could pay the player then see him retire before camp or get seriously injured in a car accident or while offseason training. The team would still be out the money AND on the hook for the SMS hit even if the player doesn't play a game. Safest thing for the teams would be to reject the agent's request to have these built into the player's contract.

Janarion Grant (Winnipeg) and Kurleigh Gittens Jr. (Toronto) have both signed contract extensions.
Hope, at the end of the day connects us all, no matter how different we are

QB McLeod Bethel Thompson has informed #Argos that he is planning to play again in 2023. If he plays in

it will be in Toronto. The club is hopeful for a final answer before the start of free agency but will be patient. Money is rarely the determining factor for MBT

Argos paid up for Kurliegh Gittens that is likely to have a ripple effect. Good young player though.

This can’t sit well with Chad Kelley. He’s insistent he wants to be the starter. Will MBT be o.k. with being the backup or will Kelley demand a trade ?

Kelly seems like the type to demand a trade, could totally see that happening.

Chad Kelly has gone 26/45 for 297 yards with 2 TD's and 3 INT's in his time in the league (regular season). Other than going 4/6 in the Grey Cup, that's it. That's all the pro stats we have on a QB who will be 29 years old before the season starts. James Franklin (among others) looked a helluva lot better than Kelly after his first four or five games. I would be very cautious about giving up the farm on the guy. Could be the next good CFL QB, but in my opinion he hasn't shown anything yet.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have tendered a strong multi-year contract offer to pending free agent quarterback Trevor Harris, per sources.
