It used to be pretty wild in there back in the 80s. Now they control the number of people to not exceed capacity. Back then it was standing room only to the point the servers really had to fight their way through the crowd with a tray of drinks. Shark Club trivia for you; Bob O'Billovich's daughter Jodi was a Shark Club server back then. She was a very pretty lady; tall and slim.

Seems pretty odd that they couldn't try to figure this out prior to the negotiation window so that this could have been part of the free agency plan during the negotiation window. Just bails out the teams that intentionally overspent or bumps up the salary asks for the lower tiered free agents that weren't the first priorities.

My guess is they were aware an announcement was forthcomng re: an increase and were probably given a ballpark number of how much like maybe $300K+ more than the $125K as per the CBA.

According to Naylor and Lalji the dollar value available from revenue sharing was known about a week prior to the communications window opening. However the CFL then had to go thru discussions with the CFLPA over how to distribute it. There were multiple options with using a portion or all of it to increase the SMS being only one of them. They also could have put some into training camp stipends, playoff bonuses or the pension. It wasn't until yesterday that the CFLPA decided to put it all into the SMS allotment.

I have a feeling a few will. I'd think those who do will have a mark beside their name. Should they ever go to FA again teams will remember that player "handshook" a deal and backed out

While they handshook a deal it's also known that the option has always been there to eventually reject that once their own teams get that final opportunity to present a better offer. Last year 4 players were extended between closure of the communications window and hitting free agency; Money Hunter, Richard Leonard, Shayne Gauthier & Micah Johnson. Had any of them agreed to terms with other teams earlier? I don't recall. This found money halfway through this week though likely increases the chances of it happening this time around.
