    The Curse of Nanook!

It's now been just over two years since the once proud Edmonton Football Club turned its back on the beloved people of the great god Nanook. In his extreme anguish at this sordid betrayal, Nanook decreed that the Edmonton Football Club would triumph no more within his domains (which evidently extend down into central Alberta).

And so it's been. The Edmonton Elks have now lost thirteen straight at home where they haven't won a game since they were the Eskimos.

So I keep telling Edmonton football fans that the great god Nanook must be placated if the Elks are to win on his home turf in Edmonton again. But does Edmonton team management listen? Look at the team's record at Commonwealth in the last two years and you'll have your answer.

It’s a curse, proud people are angry.

I had initially thought about an exorcism but yeah, your idea is probably better.

Well you should believe in Nanook:

So the streak now stands at eighteen and the Edmonton Football Club hasn't won at Commonwealth Stadium since they were the Eskimos. But are there any plans to propitiate the great god Nanook? I've not heard of any. Could the team elders be too fat and lazy to take the necessary measures?

Well they should get to it. I understand that Nanook likes nubile young nymphets in diaphanous white dresses proffering burnt offerings of Arctic char and wild berries. Surely these items can be gathered from around the environs of Edmonton.

                    Unfortunately it’s 18 straight at home ?

Hey! Let's give credit where credit's due. The not-Eskimos have had nearly ten months to add to their streak.

It's not just a CFL record. It's a pro football record.

I'm trying to find it again, but last year, I was certain that I found out that the longest North American Pro Sport home losing streak was 20 or 21 and that was in MLB where teams play 162 games a year instead of 18. If I find it again, I'll bring it in here.

Here is something, it's not all comprehensive but Edmonton's pushing into other sports even with this record.

I'm wondering how long the home losing streak has to get before they propitiate Nanook? Or just return to being the Eskimos?

Oh man, now you've got me almost hoping they break the pro sports record! (and then go on to win the GC, of course)

This must easily be the longest streak in terms of number of days. And it is a real credit to the Edmonton fan base that they can be without a home win in three and a half years, and still get 32K in their home season opener. In fact, I'd call you guys champions for that.
