Not sure who this guy is,

"Edmonton Elks (CFL): Per source, the Elks are planning on hiring former South Carolina State director of coaches video operations Ross Talbert to be the director of coaches video operations."

While it would be nice to have Lawler back, I hope Ceresna is Jones’ top priority this free agency.

Can't see us losing Jake, unless its to the NFL.

Should be no threat of that given he'll be 29 in July. I'm actually quite surprised Betts who will be 28 in March is getting a workout. NFL targets are usually in the 25, 26 range.

DT Ceresna and WR Lawler at the top of my list… our D was completely different with Ceresna in the lineup… was a complete horse in the middle and made everyone better…WR Lawler was our best weapon and playmaker before injury… both won’t be cheap.. hope we get both!!!

Will be interesting to see how CJ wants the ratio to breakdown this season… this will effect FA I would assume… we have some options…

            i would assume…

            3OL
            2WR/FB
            1/2LB
            1S

This could change depending where he wants to deploy Purifoy…. he could be in LB/DB or S….

            My 3 Cents…

Last year they played an excess number of Canadians, likely to find out what they had.
Including at times 5 on defense: a DT (Pelley), WIL (Konar), SAM (Makonzo), S (Hutter) and CB (Harry). They likely only need to play 3, with 4 likely slots spoken for on offense. Purifoy will either take one of those spots (SAM, S) or maybe just replaces pending free agent Ed Gainey.
I'd like to see Ed Gainey back. I figure we should have the money to retain Gainey, Lawler, Ceresna; and we lose some bigger contracts from last year - Wilder, Arbuckle, Lacey, Henry, Washington.

Agree with all this…. I just hope this coming season the EE clearly identify the 7 National positions and not start 8/9 to simply evaluate talent…. An extra National only if the beat out an International is my thinking….

Both teams in the Grey Cup only started 7 National….

                  My guess is:

                  3 OL
                  2 REC/FB
                  1 DT
                  1LB

I see Purifoy as the perfect S in CJ defence…. Unless S Hutter outplays him and wins the spot…

Same for LB Konar and Makonzo…. If they both want to start in LB they need to beat out the competition….

                  My 3 Cents…

I doubt Hutter will be able to outplay him but I think Hutter will find a spot on this team just from his hustle. And yes let's identify the 7 nationals we're playing and not play the jugglearoo let the best man start and let's let them gel.
                    In Rod we trust

Announcements of extensions signed after New Years are usually slowest in the first week then gradually pick up speed as we get deeper into the month. Having said that this year has started out slower than last year. Maybe that's simply because this offseason is much more spreadout between GC and free agency and there's far fewer pending FAs to deal with. Last year offseason there were only 8 weeks between GC and opening of free agency. This year there are 12 weeks. As this New Year broke we were down to 209 of the original 246 pending FAs left to be dealt with, probably 90 to 100 fewer than on Jan 1, 2022.

I feel like Hutter was a bright spot last year. I’d be fine with him starting. Makonzo and Pelley also likely could.

I would add Korte and Konar to that list with an eye on Jack-Kurdyla and Harry.

Yes, I would agree. I could see Korte, Jack-Kurdyla and Foucault starting on offence in the interior and Konar had a great year last year. I'm not as certain where Jones will go with the secondary, so Harry could be an interesting one.

I thought the Elks dressed too many Canadians. You don't get extra points for going over the Canadian starter requirement. I would like to see them dress the best line up they can. You are required to dress 7 starters, there were times they would dress 10. As an example, the one wider receiver spot was a designated Canadian spot. IF you are struggling to find 7 spots, then fine do that but when you have more than enough, why not dress another American at the wideout spot. Even if he doesn't get a ton of balls, you have given yourself another legit option.
Blindly accept whatever they do and if it doesn't work out, I guess there's always next year.
