The reason for suggesting ego is I am trying to figure out a reason why Jones waited as long as he did. I get not pulling the pin on Cornelius early in the season. Ford didn't have much experience from the previous year. He's Canadian and like it or not, a lot of Canadians usually take longer to develop. He's also a QB and there is a long history of Canadian QB's not making it. So too start, I get not going to Ford. Cornelius struggled in preseason but you signed him to a contract so I understand giving him a few games. But once it got to 4 or 5 games and he's wasn't showing a ton of traction, why not like you said come up with a few packages. Supposedly he was coaching to win yet game after game to the point it got to 1/2 the season being done and he hasn't made a change. If you gave Cornelius 4 or 5 games and nothing was happening, no one will point at him and say he jumped the gun.

Well that and whatever they were doing with Cornelius, wasn't working. Maybe throwing Ford in there for a bit, if anything would light a fire under Cornelius to play better. Realistically, going into the season, when you sign the big contract them look at the depth chart, who did Cornelius have to worry about taking playing time from him?
