But he won't even be a gadget guy here. This is the league to build a resume and he declined on being a gadget guy here.

This is the product of a player being a jerk and a team jerking him around and so we all speculate until the cows come home. At the end of the day, Tre Ford will be in the CFL next year, probably with an Eastern team, and he'll have to fight his way to a QB position because that's clearly what he wants. Best of luck to him.

Resigning Rankin was a no brainer... all three where FA I believe.. Rankin, to me, was the most promising. I'd like to keep Leake ( for returns ffs ) and back up RB and Rankin. Not sure if they could keep all three. Maybe if Ford remains and they go to a run heavy O.. then sure.... interesting times ahead.

Re-signing Rankin is a no-brainer, but it could’ve likely waited until after Grey Cup.

I’m just fascinated about what chain of command is right now. Let’s say the next decision isn’t as easy. If MBT comes asking for an extension, say, does Simon have the green light to make a football decision or are those parsed with oversight from Thompson and/or Lelacheur? If I’m media, I’m asking that question.

I only see that happening if he goes as an “athlete” and not as a QB. So far, he’s said he’s not into that. But, would the greenbacks talk?

For sure. I do think he should be a priority signing here though. With MBT's age and seeing other backups QB's around the league he seems to be the best choice. Just hope all the talk about him at the start of the season is not true. With MBT at QB in the Toronto game I can't see us winning it.

Hoping we get our punter on board long term also. He has already had NFL tryouts but from what he showed here he could possibly get another look down there . Might pull a Jon Ryan on us.

Surely you jest. The CFL pundits don't think he's good enough to be a starting QB up here so I highly doubt it.

Thompson might be the guy with his construction background and deep pockets to swing the deal. My guess is $250 mill would do it. Quite a bit to look after would be the down side but if your in the game...
Feels like not long ago most of the CFL was envious of Edmonton’s facilities, but there’s been a huge wave of new or redeveloped stadiums in recent years. I wouldn’t be at all surprised that building was one reason Thompson moved to the front of the line.

There is probably zero chance of a change at CW. Elks are just 1 tenant. A smaller domed stadium would mean no outdoor concerts at CW which have been increasing in numbers yearly it seems....
