Probably. MBTs winning percentage has been awful this year but it hasn’t been historically. And he’s proven he can still play at a high level while providing good veteran leadership.

Ford is a dynamic up and comer with a skillset unlike any other QB in the league and has won a lot of games for a really raw player who came out of the CIS.

Doege has shown some potential last year but is still an unknown at this point.

That’s a better QB room than we’ve had since the Reilly era IMO.

Historically MBT's winning percentage hasn't been all that great other than the two years post-covid for Toronto where it turned out that the team got even better once he moved on. A career 27-33 CFL career doesn't exactly scream perpetual winner. Hasn't he only started something like 3 career playoff games as well. Not all his fault, but it kind of supports the notion that he's a great QB at keeping you in the game but not necessarily to win you the game.

What do you base the QB position as being solid? Do you feel that if the Elks came back with the same 3 QB's in the order they are in, they would win?

The thing is, there is talent on this roster..

QB - Solid with depth
RB - Excellent
WR - Loads of talent there
OL - Above average

DL - Average, could use a boost there
LB - Excellent
DB - Decent, a few really good pieces

K - Could be better
P - Excellent
KR - Very pedestrian, should be better.

Across the board this team should be better than there record, they’re just missing something.

And I don’t know if it’s easier to try and figure out what that missing ingredient is, or wipe the slate clean and start over…again…

I can’t help but wonder if this could be a repeat of 2013 when we went 4-14 losing a lot of close games and then the same roster came back motivated and made a lot of noise in 2014, followed by 2015 where they were absolutely dominant.

I think it was Dunk. He was on Gregor's show a few months back.

Maciocha hasn't been part of Edmonton in 14 yrs. Who cares. But regardless, doesn't mean it's a good move today.

You are right, it's not the end of the world, they can overcome it but it's just another example why they are where they are. I heard awhile ago when it happened, other teams were offering 4th rounders, the Elks were the only ones offering a 1st. It's from one of the main CFL reporters so maybe it's not 100% but regardless, sounds like the Elks grossly overpaid for the player. All these small, not end of the world moves, do add up.

Was a receiver an area of the greatest need as a team when it happened and in the future that it was worth spending a #2 overall on? I don't think so but maybe it works out.

if we had took him first round next year I wouldn’t have complained…

And lastly, season renewals/ pricing are out and past migrators from upper on grandfathered “honor pricing” will get a big shot to the system. I can see a lot of drop offs.
Especially when you can pick up their “ deal” tix during the year and just go single game tix and since stadium is not even filling up….. no problem.

Tough ending to a tough season. Killer fumble by Gittens Jr to turn the ball over late but no worse than the one earlier by Geno Lewis. 2024 Elks were one of the better teams not to make the playoffs imo.

Not once this year did I think MBT was the problem although moot point at this stage. Even yesterday the secondary could not shut the Riders down.

He looked good last night. Very tall, nice hands, smooth runner. He had the presence of mind to get open on a hot route on an all out blitz. Didn't like how he failed to get a first down on one catch when it was there for the taking, but he's young and looks like he has a ton of upside. Still... I would have kept the first round pick in the draft. And kudos on the use of "pissant." It's been a long time since I heard that word and it made me laugh.

Imho he’s a keeper and there are a couple of recievers on our roster 88 for example I would like to see get so time

I don't think you give up a first rounder that looks like it could be #2 overall for Mathis. He might have some upside but it was another stupid decision made by this organization. There is a reason they lose. Hopefully the new Pres cleans house.
