I don't think you give up a first rounder that looks like it could be #2 overall for Mathis. He might have some upside but it was another stupid decision made by this organization. There is a reason they lose. Hopefully the new Pres cleans house.

Ya to give up a first round pick in a rourke draft for a player in a position we did not need more of is asinine. Granted its not for sure we'd even have the chance to draft him - but you leave that option open - instead we use it for another reciever. Simon strikes again. The sooner that pissant is gone the better.

Maybe he does... how about we actually use him and show the fans.. yet what do we get.... him as backup and statline so far 5 targets, 1 catch for 7 yards. yet Winnipeg plays their cdn draft pick reciever and he get yards and his first TD in his first game.....

He looked good last night. Very tall, nice hands, smooth runner. He had the presence of mind to get open on a hot route on an all out blitz. Didn't like how he failed to get a first down on one catch when it was there for the taking, but he's young and looks like he has a ton of upside. Still... I would have kept the first round pick in the draft. And kudos on the use of "pissant." It's been a long time since I heard that word and it made me laugh.

Instead, you’ll enjoy Mathis in your receiving corps - at least if he ever proves he is a starter. He could be a great player and I’d still think Jones and Simon screwed that decision up.

What worries me is if Geroy and Jackson are retained, they let Ford walk. He #1 takes off with another team because a team will 100% snatch him up and the plan is to come back with MBT because I have heard Campbell ranting about the QB. He talks about Ford's inconsistency, at times kind of picks his game apart, he's talked about how MBT gives them the best chance of winning, mentions playoffs, then goes on about how great MBT's numbers are. Projects them over a season and sure makes it sound like he thinks MBT is a high end QB. So makes me think he's saying what the organization is thinking and I don't agree with that nor do I think they should roll back with MBT.

FWIW if you look at footballdb.com Ford has a better QB rating than MBT in 2024.
I would say that Simon and Jackson have decided Ford is done here without really giving him a chance. Edmonton used to be a QB factory for the league in years long ago. Now they just want other team's castoffs.

If he keeps playing as well as he has been at Indiana there is a very good chance he gets drafted into the NFL and then it might be awhile before he makes his way up to the CFL if ever.

I agree with you. As much as I hate the idea of a very high draft pick leaving, unless he's got no other option but to stay, I think he goes. If I was him, I'd be done with this team for how he's been handled. I am not 100% sure if he did himself any favors with him apparently refusing packages early in the year but still, this team has jerked him around. It would be different if the guy in front of him was just so, so good you can't take him out. That's not the case.

Going forward, I don't know what they do. MBT will be 37 next season and looks to be declining. They got no one else behind him. There could be VA and then nothing else available and there is at least 3 teams that could use him. There is a good chance the Elks are going into next season either with an aging MBT again or rolling the dice on a complete unknown.

I wonder if new management will change Fords opinion or if new management will even want to change it. Also curious to see if Doege has advanced as he's done some seasoning and showed some flashes at camp and in preseason action. That being said, I'm not advocating to roll into next year with him as our undisputed #1 that's for sure.
