Tre is Mr Overrated. Ed should have offered him a 1 year contract. He lost there.
but he won on Cody vs MBT trade. So its a wash.

Ford needs to get a haircut next year or be traded.
cody is our man and should be locked up.
But there are ways to keep both. Elliot Brown might come back. Do we need Robbie Smith at his bloated salary when Brown is better faster stronger cheaper?
i get his Cdn but we dont need that many Cdns around. Keep it to min 7.

Well if the Elks do decide they want Cody as their starter it might be a challenge. He is only 33 and based on what happens the rest of the season they could come to that decision. Winnipeg, Hamilton, and Sask are currently rolling with older QBs as their number 1. If they want to keep Cody they would have to offer him substantially more and with Tre's salary I'm not sure they could do that. Tre has some guaranteed money so would they just walk away from that? With him getting north of 300K could we offer Cody a similar contract to stay? Not sure we could afford it. Would he stay for high back up money like MBT ( I believe he is making $185K plus incentives as a backup with the Als). Does anyone know how much Cody is currently making? I didn't think it was that much. If the right circumstances fall into place I could see Winnipeg looking for a legit starter next season. Maybe even Sask if Harris decides to hang them up. Based on performance so far I don't see them rolling with Maier as their number 1. Next season I could see Cody leaving for greener pastures if he doesn't get the starters job here (or at least gets paid like one).

Actually just found it. He is making pretty good money:

    Hard money: $180,000
    Maximum value: $262,000

So maybe he stays for that if Winnipeg or Sask don't come calling. But if Cody is the starter next season how would he feel about getting less than the backup? The Elks would have to bump up his contract where he is making more than Tre. Wouldn't they?

I could be wrong but it didn't seem like that was the case early on. Maybe the environment is better now and he'd be more receptive to it.

Without being inside his head its impossible to know but there is a difference in his body language this year compared to last. He even interrupted Fajardos presser the other day to tell everyone what his completion percentage was.

He does seem to be more engaged with Cody on the sidelines than he was with MBT.

That’s why I’m not willing to say definitively that Ford doesn’t still have a future in this league eventually.

ive done it to Adams too and thought he was a me me me guy and lacked the stuff between the ears.

so yeah youre right on patience, and ive been hard on Fords standing currently, as hes just not ready at all, but id like to think that if he was more devoted, he still has a chance.

especially harder is the short term contracts of both players and coaches in this league........every year is different it seems.....makes it THAT much harder for coaches and fans like me alike to be dug in on a QB or whatever other position to develop out

on the notable receiver talk.... i have my eye on Binjimen Victor emerging maybe.... and we are also behind on all that due to start of season Ford annointment and so there has not been continuity with the offense and QB dictating to really see it though. But its a serviceable group with Dunbar showing his veteran hands

Really like what Cody said about Rankin, sounds like he's all in.

The one thing you have to be with QBs is patient and that's hard for the typical FAN-atic to grasp.

I actually thought cody had his worst game in weeks last night. Like I've been saying all year... USE RANKIN as he goes the offense goes. There is no other offense threat that can take over a game like Rankin does.

I still think they should give ford a series here and there.. see if he's learning anything.. maybe the 2nd half. Without being a Ninja and in the locker room and meetings we have no clue how Ford is taking being number 2 and if hes bought in to Learning from Cody for a possible shot at No.1 I watched Fords demeanor while on the bench, I did not see any signs of someone who is pouting. Numerous times he sat with cody on the bench and looking over the Ipad. Seemed engaged and learning what Cody was spittin' Never looked mad, depressed - smiling and pointing at the Ipad with Cody.

I actually thought the Hamilton game was close to being the best game they’ve played all year, unfortunate not to come away from that one with a W.
