So with all the hype around that awesome play by Williams last night on a 4th down gamble how many of you were reminded of this beauty from Ford back in June also on a third down gamble. Very similar plays.

There is no other QB in the CFL that can make that play.

But according to some we should just give up on this guy completely and kick him to the curb.

That was a patented Casey Printers play. Run around like a squirrel crossing the highway then in desperation hurl it down field in hopes a receiver can get to it. He won his MOP award thanks to receivers getting the ball on deep desperation throws.

Aaron Rodgers perfected it. I was in Soldier Field for Marc Trestman's final game as Bears' HC. Winner finished 1st in the Division. Loser missed the playoffs. With the Bears holding the lead late with 48 seconds to go and Pack in 4th and 8 Rodgers ran around likest Williams on Saturday almost getting sacked at least twice. Finally Rodgers looks way down field and spots Randall Cobb wide open with nobody within 10 yards of him. Hurls it off his back foot for the game winning TD. Packers win. Bears miss the playoffs and Trestman gets fired.

Its also rated as the top Edmonton Elks play of 2025 on the CFL website. I hope EH can pull a rabbit out of the hat and get him to accept backup QB money to stay here.

You would think it should be possible to retain him as he won’t really have a ton of leverage in negotiations seeing as the state of the leagues QBing at the moment likely isn’t generating a ton of demand for him right now…

I know some are hung up on other teams backups (Powell) being the saviour of our QB position but the grass isn’t always greener… And if you have an opportunity to develop your own guy in house then I’d much prefer to go that route.

The only reason I talk about Powell is the assumption that the Ford ship has sailed and that he's not really an option either because the team isn't interested, or he isn't interested. As such, Powell's the best option out there not named Ford.

                    I’m in the same boat.

Well obviously we can’t afford to pay him starters money to be the back up that he is right, are we gonna keep him for one play that he got lucky on ??

                          One play?

The dude has a a whole highlight package of those plays. It’s the routine plays he needs to develop more consistently on.

And obviously no one is paying him starter money, everyone knows that including Tre. So it’s really gonna come down to him deciding which organizations low paying offer feels like the best fit for him.

The Elks have added QB Jacob Clarke to their negotiation list. He's got good size and the stats are impressive.

You are correct , but no other team sees him as a starter either and never will be more than a back up unless he is open to looking at a position change , there is zero doubt that his athletic ability is outstanding , he just needs to open up his options outside of qb
