Ivey’s days might be numbered as I believe Bordner started at LT for the Ticats last season.“RUN THE DANG BALL!" -Leigh Anne Tuohy character from the film The Blind Side
"Next time, take a case of Pil into the huddle. If you don't get a beer, get the hell off the field!" -New special teams coach for the Riders
"When the Eskimos are out on defense it looks like there are two or three number 47s out there." -Duane Ford

I wonder about look of DLine with Carney signing….
With DE Carney taking one DE spot and DE Barlow that was recently resigned by EH and the emergence of DE Taylor last season….. I wonder how NAT DE Smith fits into equation…
Smith disappointed last season…. Was injured for a long stretch and when healthy seemed to not be near as impactful as Barlow and Taylor. I assume Smith has a large salary to boot…. wonder what the plans are for him moving forward…
My 3 Cents….Last edited by SKIP12; 02-01-2026, 01:29 PM.

If I recall Smith restructured his deal , taking a pay cut from 270k to 235k now, I wasn’t a big fan of smith last year or when we signed him to that contractOriginally posted by SKIP12 View PostI wonder about look of DLine with Carney signing….

235K for a rotational DE that not a starter IMHO is a bit rich for me…. Yes he a National but we have a lot of flexibility to start 7 Nationals and DE not being one of them…
Rather that money put towards resigning DL Ceresna…
My 3 Cents

I only recognize Powell on that list.“RUN THE DANG BALL!" -Leigh Anne Tuohy character from the film The Blind Side

Style wise Powell is more of a better fit. They wouldn’t need to change up the offence when he comes in. Also Hervey knows him a lot better than crum So not a surprising moveOriginally posted by Esks4ever View Post
stats wise ford is better... but he's gone I was hoping for crum over powell.

I wouldn't have thought so either but process of elimination seems to be increasing the possibility.Originally posted by Maas_12 View Post
This is my hunch… also as it relates to the Ford camp picking if one can say he gets a choice to “pick “ without leverage.
i can see they view Vernon and the situation there as a bit more “open “
i don’t foresee BC even though some say so, due to the Ford camp probably viewing well… Rourke… you aint gonna supplant Rourke.
Hamilton with their Dolegala and other signings and my assumption that he doesnt seem like a Milanovich type QB project anyway there’s probably not much interest on their end.
Maybe Ottawa is a good spot. Brown and their situation aint that locked in…
But again, its not just simple GM and asset interest , but the coaches should have a large say in how they view that fitment.
if i were Fords camp its time to just be very open about going in a QB situation to learn and not necessarily about where the path might be situationally the “easiest “
Lots of armchair assumptions here on my part though!!
MTL signed Crum
OTT signed Maier
EDM signed Powell
HAM extended Dolegala and Frost which made Powell expendable
TOR has 5 QBs under contract already.
That leaves BCL, CGY, SSK and WPG
SSK has extended Coan and Stevens
BCL has not extended Masoli or Brice. I don't think they have any intention of retaining Masoli. Not sure about Brice but I'd hope the bring somebody with some experience in regardless to compete.
WPG has Collaros with his injury risk and Terry Wilson. Streveler has not been extended and may not be ready if he can recover from his knee injury in time.
CGY has VA of course. Just how much do they like PJ Walker?
IMO in order of likelihood it goes WPG first with BCL & CGY tied for 2nd and SSK 4th. East looks to not be in the market.
