On Ford to jones he was a good pick. However, he did not view him as a QB but wanted him to switch positions. Only drafted him because he's a hell of an athlete.
I spoke with a few players recently that really like Jones and mentioned that he had far to much on his plate. When Jones was hired I don't think we could have afforded Hervey as the board was spending the bare minimum. In comes Hervey along with a new owner and an open pocket book, which has set him up to have as much success as his talent will let him, which is not the same situation that Jones was in.

All that being said I'm happy with where we are at as we have a president and a GM that love our city and aren't living out of a suitcase, which feels far more permanent then previous regimes

Probably. Plus there was some non sense with coaching cap penalties and stuff, so I've little doubt of what you say. I still say limitting coaching resource is the single biggest reason the league has suffered a bit in popularity and quality over the last decade. Most coaching staffs are smaller than they should be.

agreed and as someone who has ventured into coaching the last few years (LB's for 3 years and LB's and DC for the coming season) I can say, without a doubt that there are a lot of bodies required to make a team function properly.

Well double digits above zero coming up this weekend (at least in the Edmonton area).

yeah it's been a wild and weird winter. weeks of nice weather looks like spring then a week of bone chilling cold. Last year was personally one of the worst years of my life so I'm excited for 2026 for some sun, football, horse racing and patio beers.

Great Woodmansy interview, nice to hear he's relocating here and that we have people who are helping players families get settled.

I wonder if the term analyst has any significance regarding the football operations cap. I seem to recall teams hiring people as "consultants" in the past (Chris Jones in Toronto comes to mind) and someone mentioned that was a way around some element of the rules, whether it's the number of coaches on staff or the cost. At any rate, I thought the staff might be a tad lighter on experience once Maxie departed, so I'm not going to complain about this.
