    Elks in Kelowna

Just an FYI for those considering and unaware. Tickets are on sale now to general public. Looks like less than 2000 left for Stamps game and about 4000 left for Elks game.

I drove by this field about a month ago. I have no idea how they are going to be able to host a CFL game with significant attendance. It's looked like a broken down high school field (not even as nice as the good ones here). Going to be interesting to see how they spruce it up that fast.

I really can't speak to that as I've never been to the Apple Bowl. I think I drove by it last summer without knowing that was where it was located. Thus I rely on Google Earth.

It is like a blank canvas. The permanent grandstand, and only structure, is on the west side. It seats just over 1000. Based on the Ticketmaster graphic they may not even be using it instead turning the space between it and the sidelines into premium seating and a party zone. Grandstand would be lousy seating anyways as front row is 30 yards away from the sideline, 10 yards farther away from the sidelines than even Commonwealth. My guess is they will convert the upper part of the permanent grandstand into the press boxes, broadcast booth, coaches booths and maybe some quasi luxury boxes.

The rows of seats at back of the endzone and down the east sideline will be on top of the track. At back of endzone there will be 30 rows x 115 seats across broken into 5 sections. The only existing seating on the east sidelines is 8 sections of aluminum bleachers x about 9 rows deep situated outside the running track. They only run from the 30 at south end to 15 at the north end. They will get yanked out in favour of 7 sections x 30 seats wide x 30 rows deep with 2 sections x 10 seats wide for bookends. So that's roughly 3450 seats in each endzone + 6900 down the east sideline + whatever capacity they can build into the west sideline.

Overall the task at hand will be similar to what they had to do to convert Royal Athletic Park in Victoria for TD Pacific. RAP is primarily a baseball facility with the main grandstand being in one corner with some permanent seats running down only as far as 3rd base on the left field line but a long stretch up the right field line. I didn't go to that game, only one I missed in 2024, so I can't say if they actually incorporated those seats into the TD Pacific structure or built a temp pop-up stadium inside them.
