Clinching first West appearance since 2017.
Magic number of 2 meaning 2 wins or 2 losses by WPG or combinations thereof. Alternatively the magic number vs. BC is 3, but WPG plays BC once so one of them has to lose one.

Clinching first home playoff game since 2015.
Magic Number 3, or for home Western Final 4.
Earliest possible clinch date Sat. September 26th if Edmonton wins both of the next two games and Sask beats BC on the 25th.

A 3-2 record clinches a home game and if one of those wins is in Sask or if Sask loses a single game in the final 5, it clinches home for the West Final.
A 2-3 record would clinch a home game provided BC loses one of their final 5 games or Sask loses 2. 2-3 could also clinch the West Final provided one of the wins is vs. Sask and both Sask and BC loses one other game each in their final 5.

    Remaining schedules
EDM - at Tor, vs. Ham, BYE, at Ham, vs. WPG at SSK (Combined records 30-35)
SSK - Bye, at BC, vs. CGY, at MTL, vs. MTL, vs. EDM. (Combined records 42-23)
BC - Bye, vs. SSK, at TOR, vs. OTT, at CGY, vs. WPG (Combined records 27-37)
WPG - Bye, vs. TOR, at MTL, vs. CGY, at EDM, at BC (Combined records 39-26)

Clinching first home playoff game since 2015.
Magic Number 2 which is also the magic number to host Western Final.
Earliest possible clinch date for a home game is Fri. October 9th if Edmonton beats Hamilton and either Sask loses to Calgary next or BC loses to Toronto. If both lost they'd clinch the Western Final.

Could also clinch home field that weekend if Edmonton beats Hamilton and either Sask loses one of its next 2 games vs. Calgary or Montral or BC loses one of its next 2 vs. Toronto or Ottawa. Could clinch Western Final if both team lose one of their next 2 games.

    Remaining schedules
EDM - BYE, at Ham, vs. WPG at SSK (Combined records 19-24)
BC - at TOR, vs. OTT, at CGY, vs. WPG (Combined records 23-35)
SSK - vs. CGY, at MTL, vs. MTL, vs. EDM. (Combined records 40-18)

Just looking ahead at the next two weeks:

BC has been hot as of late but travelling all the way East to face a similarly hot Argo team at home could prove to be a tough test for the Leos… Obviously they’ll smash Ottawa at home, ESPECIALLY if they do happen to drop one in TO the week prior.

Sask should come out on top at home against Calgary this week but the way the Stamps have been hot and cold this season you never quite know what you’re gonna get from them… Sask in Montreal on the other hand is gonna be a different animal assuming the Als haven’t wrapped up first place by then. (In that sense an Argo win for us this week would be huge on multiple fronts)

As for us, I don’t expect it to be easy in the hammer but we HAVE to come out and take care of business on the 9th if we want to avoid a bunch of unnecessary stress in the final two weeks.

That BC-Toronto game is extremely tough to predict. BC is probably the hottest team in the CFL, but Toronto isn't a slouch either and is one of only two teams that has not lost at home (albeit less games).

BC defenses biggest strength is that they eliminate the run game, but the Argos offense eliminates their own run game, so does it matter? It's also one of those games where a reasonable prediction for over/under on rushing would be like 10.5 yards for Toronto, but those games often turn into something unexpected and the team goes off for 100+ yards.

Calgary vs. Sask. Sask is reeling a bit like they've often done in recent years in the second half (2-4 in their last 6 games), Calgary's confidence is back up after getting a chance to beat up on Ottawa. I'm probably still picking Sask to win, but wouldn't be surprised to see Calgary go hard and beat them knowing that Winnipeg has become vulnerable and beating Sask would tie them with Sask for points and if they won by 4 they'd even have the tiebreaker.

The second week, there's no way BC loses to Ottawa so don't look for help there, but I'd be shocked if Montreal didn't spank Sask in the first game so that they could lock up first, keep their perfect home record, and have the flexability to send their B-squad to Sask for the rematch 5 days later.

With BC beating the Argos yesterday, I think we’re gonna need two wins to secure the West final.

This game in Hammy almost becomes a must win because our final two games are coming against western opponents who will be fighting for their playoff lives.

Dropping that one in TO a couple weeks ago hurts a little more right now.
