He's got 23 in 13 games and his previous career high was 18. With 5 games left, unless they stop playing him soon, adding another 10 is probably realistic. That's only 2 per game. He's at 3781 passing yards. His career high is 4302. So he looks poised to surpass that as well and hitting 5000 yards is a real possibly.

So I don't see how Edmonton doesn't resign him if he wants to play. It should be a priority IMO.
agreed. the intangibles he brings are hard to measure as well

Read on the CFL website that according to PFF he didn't commit a single turnover worthy play. Another great game by Cody. Was a blast being at the game and high fiving fellow fans again. Usually there are a bunch of empty seats where Im sitting but not this last game.
one of the most defining stats in the win VS loss debate is who won the turnover battle with the team who wins it winning about 80% of the games.

Cody graciously signed a very team friendly deal and as a result, he is one of the lowest paid starting QBs in the league. But Ed did him right by investing those savings in the trenches to keep Cody clean.

For all Fajardos talk about being on the back side of his career and being year to year in his decision making process, he’s only 34 and is having by far the best season of his career. The way he’s playing right now there’s no reason he couldn’t play another five seasons if his family situation allows.

I hope he continues to play but with the value he’s bringing to the team, I don’t know that it’s fair to keep underpaying him forever, and I worry that our depth will begin to suffer as our QB budget rises. I’m sure there’s a number that keeps both CF and the EE happy but I would have to think that that number is at least 150k-200k north of where he’s at right now.

Also want to shout out Zach Mathis. For a guy whose opportunities I’ve suggested around here may be dwindling, I thought he came back with a really nice little performance, albeit in garbage time. But still, I thought he played with a lot more urgency in that fourth quarter than I’ve seen from him in previous outings which was nice to see.

I see him and Kettyle as being in direct competition with each other and as this season has progressed, I had started to give Carter the edge in that competition so Mathis getting on the roster was an opportunity for him to bounce back and I thought he showed well.

The level of belief on this team is on full display in the fact that all of our depth players, no matter what position or how far down they are on the depth chart, have been able to step in when called on and ball out with confidence.

Signs of a team that is extremely well coached.

I'm not the biggest Cody supporter, nor a big fan of his. He is growing on me and I'd rather have a QB like him than the arrogant POS in Alexander in Montreal.

Cody’s leadership ability is second to none in this league in my opinion, and is a BIG reason why we are where we are right now.

My advocacy for Tre Ford early on last year was not out of disrespect to Cody’s abilities but more so out of hope that Tre could find a way to harness his once in a generation skillset and developed into our franchise guy of the future. Especially given that Cody was talking a lot about retirement at the time.

Obviously that didn’t pan out (and I still don’t think the window if fully closed for Tre in Hamilton but it certainly is closING) but there’s no question that this became Cody’s team down the stretch last year and I think we’re very fortunate to have him.

It’s funny that we essentially swapped our late twenty-teens starting QBs with Sask and despite their GC win last year, I would still take Cody over Trevor every single time and it’s not even close.

Trevor harris reminds me of Frankenstein

QBs I'd take over Cody is a small list. I would say Alexander but I cant stand his arrogance. I think it'd only be Rourke. Maybe Adams.

I’ll give you Rourke but Adam’s is the complete anti-Cody, puts up flashy numbers early, but folds like a cheap tent in clutch situations, no thanks.

At this point the only 2 QB's I would take over Fajardo are Rourke and Alexander. In the close but no category is Adams and Bo Levi. In the hell no category is MBT, Kelly, Maeir and Harris (due to his age)

Yes, his age is an interesting number when you consider how old guys like Harris and BLM have been able to play until. I wouldn't be unhappy if he stuck around, but I'm still really high on Powell becoming the franchise QB.

alexander has the talent but I do like his arrogance and attitude.

He's a dick. Not even BLM was that bad in his early years and BLM was very bad (he has mellowed a bit since IMO). DA gets into the face of his opponents like no other QB I've ever seen at least in the CFL (Joe Kapp was before my time). Kelly can be irritating as well but DA is way worse as far as I'm concerned. At least on the field. CK shouldn't even be in the league as a result of his off field shenanigans.

That’s the catch. If Cody plays for even another 3 years it’s gonna be tough to keep Powell content on the bench for that long.

If we were to win the GC I have a feeling he would call it a career. Every time he's asked about home its obvious how much he really misses his family. I think when he decided to come back last offseason a lot of it had to do with the idea of bringing this club back to respectability and if they were to win it all well...mission accomplished.
