The sad part of theTre Ford ordeal was Chris Jones taking a hit he did not deserve for being right about who should be playing QB on a call by the interim President. Much of the core of this years team are the young guys brought in by Jones,Originally posted by ben_the_eskimo View Post
Cody’s leadership ability is second to none in this league in my opinion, and is a BIG reason why we are where we are right now.
My advocacy for Tre Ford early on last year was not out of disrespect to Cody’s abilities but more so out of hope that Tre could find a way to harness his once in a generation skillset and developed into our franchise guy of the future. Especially given that Cody was talking a lot about retirement at the time.
Obviously that didn’t pan out (and I still don’t think the window if fully closed for Tre in Hamilton but it certainly is closING) but there’s no question that this became Cody’s team down the stretch last year and I think we’re very fortunate to have him.
It’s funny that we essentially swapped our late twenty-teens starting QBs with Sask and despite their GC win last year, I would still take Cody over Trevor every single time and it’s not even close.
That said, Ed Hervey was a good man for the job he was given.

Jones isn't an idiot he just had far to much on his plate. That being said I would far rather have a guy who has roots in the community then a guy who is living out of a hotel room. The biggest difference between Ed and Chris is that Chris just kept throwing stuff at the wall till something stuck, Ed is more calculated and has a keener eye for talent. Lets not forget that Jones cut Rankin.Originally posted by bombervu View Post

Never VAJ. Going into this season, I probably would have had Fajardo as about number 5 or 6 on my list of guys I would have wanted starting. Now, it's around top 3 or 4.Originally posted by Esks4ever View PostTrevor harris reminds me of Frankenstein
QBs I'd take over Cody is a small list. I would say Alexander but I cant stand his arrogance. I think it'd only be Rourke. Maybe Adams.
Rourke - obviously anyone chooses him, but at some point do the injuries become a concern and he's yet to win a divisional final (though I've little doubt he will at some point)
VAJ - talented, but never felt he's a great leader. Might win one day but will need a near perfect team around him.
Harris - that ship sailed years ago and I could never want him starting again, that said, late career Harris seems to better than mid-career Harris.
Collaros - 3-5 years ago, easy to pick Zack, but not anymore.
Kelly - talent wise, may be the best QB in the league, but is a bit of a head case. Not sure you could build the culture Edmonton's been building with a guy like that
BLM - hard to pick Fajardo over BLM, but BLM has been missing a lot of time over the last 3-4 years. But with their ages being somewhat close to each other, I probably pick healthy BLM over healthy CF.
Whichever Ottawa QB you want to mention - next
Davis - the best all around QB in the league, so easy to pick him, though he comes across as a douche but douches always seem to be more tolerable when they are being a douche for your team.
This year for me probably moved CF up the list compared to Harris, Kelly and BLM.

You must really dislike Cody to say you might take Adams over him because there is zero evidence Adams has ever been better than Cody. I am not saying Cody is an elite level QB but if you build a good system around him, he's wins games and can even win a cup. In the 2 Calgary games, Adams was awful. If he was remotely decent in game 1, the Stamps would have won that game no problem and he looked like he could hardly play game 2.Originally posted by Esks4ever View PostTrevor harris reminds me of Frankenstein

What exactly has Adams ever done in the CFL?Blindly accept whatever they do and if it doesn't work out, I guess there's always next year.

At this point in the season Cody has to be the nominee coming out of the West for MOP doesn't he? Can't think of anyone I would put in front of him.Originally posted by Looner View Post
At this point the only 2 QB's I would take over Fajardo are Rourke and Alexander. In the close but no category is Adams and Bo Levi. In the hell no category is MBT, Kelly, Maeir and Harris (due to his age)“RUN THE DANG BALL!" -Leigh Anne Tuohy character from the film The Blind Side
"Next time, take a case of Pil into the huddle. If you don't get a beer, get the hell off the field!" -New special teams coach for the Riders
"When the Eskimos are out on defense it looks like there are two or three number 47s out there." -Duane Ford
"...I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, I enjoy the banter though
..." -Looner
