(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos today officially announced the signings of offensive lineman Aaron Fiacconi and linebacker and special teams standout Agustin Barrenechea.

Fiacconi was acquired from Winnipeg for future considerations in September and started eight games at tackle for the Eskimos.

Barrenechea joined the Esks in September from Hamilton in a trade for Jason Nedd and a 4th round draft pick in the 2008 CFL Canadian Draft. The four-year veteran played in five games for the Eskimos in 2007.

Eskimo Head Coach and Director of Football Operations Danny Maciocia says, “To succeed in the CFL you must have a strong group of Canadian players. These signings are a big step towards improving our non-import talent.”

actually, this would help keep us status quo at the point of which he is responsible for it's erosion.......

These were two good aquisitions by DM and cost us next to nothing. Good to see them re-sign
I will not, for a moment longer, support an organization who chooses to cowardly kneel where they once fiercely & proudly stood

I agree. Hopefully we can keep them here and they aren't down the road next week.

I would think Fiacconi would move to center, Darilek pushes Roundtree off the starting 5 and Comiskey is back at guard

No kidding, Sherlock. So where did it all go? How about making some half-decent use of the draft?

Good moves, I'm still not 100% sold on Fiaconne as a starter but really good for depth no doubt and I like Barranechia. Both areas that we were weak in at the beginning of last year.

                  YES!! Something positive. Good signings.
Blindly accept whatever they do and if it doesn't work out, I guess there's always next year.

Good news. I'm not totally sold on AF yet either, but AB is SOLID and will help the team a lot.
