I don't exactly know why. But I just have a feeling we are winning next weeks game. I'm throwing out the fact we are 0-3 against the stumps and we are on their turf, but I think I will just call it destiny. I think the stumps are bluffing about Cornish playing. If they want to risk a franchise player who has 2 concussions in the last few months they are stupid. No bones about it. There's a pressure to hosting a western final and this stampeder team has shown they can't handle it when the rubber meets the road. On paper we shouldn't win but I think we will find a way. Either way..... We are a contender for the next foreseeable future. I didn't think we'd ever be saying that again after the debacle of the last 9 seasons or so.

Re: Next weeks Western final
Well, you know the one thing i'll say is this. For the Esks to win next week i think the Stamps will have to have somewhat of an off day. Kind of like they did during the first meeting this year when the Esks should have won. I think the special teams and D are even more or less, but the Stamps O is just too consistent compared to our O. It's sports. It's why they play the game and Stamps have shown a tendency to choke in the playoffs.Originally posted by Kaptain View PostI don't exactly know why. Re: Next weeks Western final
Cong rats on the win the team showed the riders that your team was much better than a week ago. Cornish by the way is playing and the concussions have not been verified for any of the injuries he had. The first game of the year the Herbert hit may have caused a slight one but was primarily a neck injury. The last one they followed the protocol but again it was not deemed a concussion! As far as destiny goes you just never know. Both our teams have had the Jeckyl and Hyde sydrome. You just never know what team will show up. I am really looking forward to this game. Right now the Eskies have something to prove and the Stamps better be prepared. The Stamps have the pressure from last years loss on their minds so they have been very focused on this game. This one will be to close to call in my opinion. But may the best team win.Originally posted by Kaptain View PostI don't exactly know why. But I just have a feeling we are winning next weeks game. Re: Next weeks Western final
If the Stamps said that the last hit on Cornish did not give him a concussion, then they need a new doctor. There is no way that he was not concussed.
The game itself will depend on Reilly's health. If he is able to move around and at least give the threat of a run for the QB position, then the Esks have a great great chance. If he has to stay in the pocket, then it will be a long day for the Esks."Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy."

Re: Next weeks Western final
I doubt we will see the same piss poor offense we've seen for 2 games now with Nichols. I feel the plan from the start was Reilly rests, Nichols goes in to manange the game and rely on the D to get past Sask. Reilly was healthy enough to run Nichols playbook and get better results ( longer time consuming drives.) If we were down, I'd be willing to bet we would have seen Reilly running a bit.. But we where leading and he just needed to sustain drives - something Nichols couldn't do.
If Reilly isn't fully ready, and I think he is - as he didnt look horribly bad on the sidelines or on the field ) then the Esks wont have a chance even with the D. Nichols is uncapable of maintaining a drive and getting points. .. and Cals' offence isnt as poor as Sasks and they wont be shut down for ever.

He's not about to beat down on Nichols. He's on more non-verified concussion from using a sippy cup for a loooong time.Originally posted by Redwhite2005 View PostCong rats on the win the team showed the riders that your team was much better than a week ago. Re: Next weeks Western final
As long as Nichols doesn't play, we have a chance. He was awful yesterday. All those turnovers and what, 4 points off them. Not impressed.
Hopefully Reilly is somewhat ready to go because I have no confidence in Nichols going into next week.
That being said, I'm pretty pumped we've got to where we are this season.

Re: Next weeks Western final
Yeah clearly the team need bring its "A" game to have a chance in Calgary.
Very disappointed in MN. Franchise and fans stuck by him for a couple years, and now when he has a chance to shine ... Just not happening. That might turn around, but Western Final isn't the place to see if that dream comes true.
Defense was awesome in Semi. But they're going to need a functional offense to better the Stamps.Last edited by Moon1; 11-17-2014, 10:06 AM.

Re: Next weeks Western final
Despite what people may think, I really was hoping that Nichols would play well. I'm not a big fan of his but for the team, I wanted him to play well because it would give the Esks options. The Esks could have played possum again, talk Nichols up, down play Reilly. Make the Stamps have to prepare for both guys. Now the Esks have to show their cards. I don't think there is any of us that seriously thought that Nichols would start against the Stamps if they won but now it's Reilly or nothing. Based on how Nichols played, they have to start Reilly.Blindly accept whatever they do and if it doesn't work out, I guess there's always next year.

Re: Next weeks Western final
An offensive display like we showed yesterday will get us killed in Calgary. Plain and simple.
I hope Reilly has some mobility back by Sunday, but even if he's stuck in the pocket he's still better than Nichols. Even the simple stuff like hitch screens look better leaving Reilly's hand.

Re: Next weeks Western final
I'm hoping they were playing it safe with Reilly as he wasn't moving around much. The big thing is John White. Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think the Esks have played the Stamps with White as their starting back. He's a HUGE difference maker and seems to have the ability to get you at least 5 yards on every carry even if there is no hole.Originally posted by Traxy View PostAn offensive display like we showed yesterday will get us killed in Calgary.
