    GDT: Bombers @ Esks

Glad to have a short week after last weeks debacle but I almost wish we were playing Calgary or BC today. I think the Esks needed a "show me something" type game after the previous disgraceful meltdown. If we beat Winnipeg, it's because we were supposed to and I don't even want to think about losing to them and Nichols.

Sadly, I have ZERO confidence in our defence so I think the key to the game is our offence will need to put up 40+ points. If they don't, then the defence could lose it. That's not fair to the offence but that's just the way it is right now.

I will be looking for a much better outing by the oline, a better running attack and a consistent 60 minute effort which we still haven't seen from the offence.

Losing to the bombers would be an embarrassment

I suspect if we lose tonight, Nanookster's post count will jump dramatically
Hope, at the end of the day connects us all, no matter how different we are

Is someone going to merge the two GDT threads?
Out of my mind; back in five minutes.

Agree with much of what you say... it's not the kind of game where it's easy to wipe last week from the memories, because it isn't stepping up and winning one you shouldn't, it's making sure you don't lose won that you cannot afford to.

What confidence I do have in the defence comes from the understanding of who we have on the defensive line and the hunger they have. It starts up front with getting pressure, whether it be with rushing three, four, five or the whole damned house, and that was the biggest factor, imo, in the letdown last week and the game spiralling away. I expect Sewell and Willis to have big bounceback games and hold themselves and their teammates accountable. Prior to the third quarter last week, (and the offence certainly played their role in the collapse), things were looking pretty decent defensively, and I believe that is well within reach again.

I agree, I worry a little bit that a win today would only mask the problems that will inevitably creep up again once we face a stronger opponent.

Sadly, I don't think it matters much how hungry they are if Benne and Crehaan are constantly setting them up to fail. I watched Odell closely once we started to slide last week and he was fired up on the side lines. He was marching up and down ranting and attempting to rally the troops and inspire his team mates like a good leader should. I started to feel it was only a matter of time before he came up with a game changing play. Yet he didn't have one single opportunity, and I don't think it was due to lack of effort.

Can we go back to Democratic and Republican game day threads?

Hillary was in charge of the other thread. I was worried about getting suicided.

Bombers secondary is banged up missing Randle and Harris. Hope we can exploit them a bit that way. Also hope we look to stretch the field a bit more than we did last week as I think I can count on one hand the number of times we threw deep against the Cats.

Defensively, I do expect a bounce back game and we should win this one in a walk. Doesn't mean I ain't gonna be worried to the clock hits zeros...

I can see Reilly putting up the same numbers as he did last time against the Bummers. I think weather will be a factor. Cue Wolfman for a lot of touches and then hit'em with the long bombs.

We don't seem to win games in walks these days. It'd be great, but after last week, I no longer trust my relaxed feeling when we have a 25 point lead
