    Re: 2015 Edmonton Rush thread

I'm guessing they're playing the Friday as to not go head-to-head with the Women's World Cup.

They should be able to get a good crowd, a full two weeks to build it up and nothing else to really take the attention away.... other than the WWC hype, but they'll play first and I think there is room to hype two events. Will be interesting to see how much Urban spends on this, would also go a long way if they manage to win game one. Edmonton loves a winner, and the prospect of seeing a championship won at home would get people on the bandwagon.

This would also be a prime opportunity to get a season ticket campaign going, if they plan on staying...
Look. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

The timing of Urban pulling this moving out crap was atrocious. I'm wondering if he thought doing it now would play on the publics emotions during a playoff run. I can't see the distraction for the team being a good thing. I'm cheering the boys on hard regardless as to whether they're the Edmonton or Saskatoon Rush after the season. As much as I'm not a fan of Katz, I would love to see him make the Rush a part of OEG and se Bruce Urban sail into the sunset.

Wow, TSN the other night evidently screwed up their scoreboard as they both showed and announced Calgary winning the game and the tiebreaker. Nice surprise to come in here and find out the Rush actually moved on!

The NLL and the NHL have a good relationship and the Oil want another tenant for the new barn, which also allows the OEG to grow into a multi sports property just like the Flames to the south. As I wrote when the Battle of Alberta thing came up, this is about the OEG acquiring sports franchises to be more like the Flames and fill the new building.

The OEG has pulled every trick out of the playbook they can to irritate the situation and make fans side with ... well the Oil and stay away, so they can get the club cheaper ... such as the non-sense with the Battle of Alberta, the you can't hang a banner in Rexall and other public spats with the Rush and the Eskimos. Break down the brand, get it cheaper and build it back up.

Bruce Urban is posturing, because he has no choice. He can give the team to the OEG at low ball the price or he can find a way to push back. The spot light is on the Rush right now (with Oil Kings and Oilers out), so he is using the platform to try an get a better deal.

If the team moves to Toon Town, there is no reason why the Oil wouldn't get a franchise from the NLL as it is cheap compared to other franchises.

I would be disappointed that Mark Mathews and company moved to Saskatoon as the Rush are a team that could easily become a NLL dynasty. However, I doubt Katz would want the OEG to be a second class to the Flames and the worst case scenario Edmonton gets to start all over again in building a winner and we have a natural rival to the East and South.

Rush-ing to the Worlds: The Edmonton Rush will be well-represented with three-time defending champion Team Canada at the 2015 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship coming up in September.

Rush GM/head coach Derek Keenan is an assistant coach on the national team and part of the selection group which ultimately chose seven members of the Rush – forwards Mark Matthews and Zack Greer, defenders Kyle Rubisch, Chris Corbeil, Brett Mydske and Ryan Dilks, and goaltender Aaron Bold.

Canada’s first game on Sept. 20th should be a good one as they take on the host Iroquios Nationals at the Onondaga Nation Arena near Syracuse, New York. Canada’s pool includes the United States and England.

Watched the worlds on TSN last year and the Canada vs Iroquios Nation was a great game. If you like hard hitting, high intensity sport, this one is for you.

Haven't heard much about the Rush since Urban's little hissy fit... are they content just to go quietly (to Saskatoon) in the night

Game 1 is on TSN2 at the moment, Rush down 2-1

Hope they win tonight, so they have a shot to win it all at home next weekend. Up 4-2 now!

After going down 2-0, the Rush explode for 6 in a row to take control. The Rock did close to within 2 (6-4), but since then the Rush have been in control. Now 15-9 Rush late in the 4th.

Ya JT is a little firecracker and a pretty good face off guy! The only one he has serious trouble with is Geoff Snider out of Calgary, but it looks like most of the league has trouble with Snider! Looking forward to next Friday and hopefully they win it all at home.

The Rush really took the game to Toronto once they got the lead, especially the second half they totally controlled it. Very impressive performance.

No better chance than next week to save the franchise in YEG. Go Rush!

What a great moment at Rexall. Rush are Champs! Huge congratulations to the organization especially HC Derek Keenan. What an amazing post game interview. So real and powerful. We have another champion in the city, and the Esks are next!
