2004 end-of-season Esks stats

Curse the offseason.

I kept the Esks' stats all the way through the year on my computer...so, to ease the offseason pain, I intend to post one year-end stat every day until training camp (I should have enough of them to get there - all the regular boxscore stats, first downs, net yards, etc. plus season series, record in various situations, and attendance).

I will indicate team totals and avg per game (for and against) one day, and best and worst games (for and against) the next day.

This will probably be mainly to keep myself sane, but I also hope that some of you will find them interesting as well (and will be able to look back on good moments of the season).

Starting with:

Points for/points against

Total for: 532
Avg for per game: 29.6

Total against: 472
Avg against per game: 26.2

In the interests of optimism, I decided to include only the best games for each stat.

Best game for: 57 pts (W 57-16 vs OTT, Aug 29)
Best game against: 7 pts (2 - W 31-7 vs SSK, Aug 20...W 25-7 @ CGY, Sep 6)

(2003:
Best game for: 52 pts (W 52-15 vs HAM, Jul 16)
Best game against: 0 pts (W 38-0 vs CGY, Sep 5))

Overall point difference: +60
Avg point difference: +3.3

Total point margin in 9 wins: +195
Avg margin of victory: +21.7

Highest margin of victory: 41 pts (W 57-16 vs OTT, Aug 29)

(For comparison...2003:
Overall point difference: +155
Avg point difference: +8.6
Total point margin in 13 wins: +203
Avg margin of victory: +15.6
Highest margin of victory: 38 pts (W 38-0 vs CGY, Sept 5))

If it's any consolation, Esks didn't win as much this year, but when we did, we won big.

The worst loss, by point difference, was 29 pts (L 44-15 @ OTT, Jul 2).

Do people want me to post the worst games for all stats, or just on request? I suppose it could be a "well, it can't get any worse than this" sort of thing.

CW Attendance:

Total fans (including exhibition and playoff): 418 727

Regular season avg: 39 032
Overall avg: 38 066

Largest crowd: 50 366 (W 44-12 vs CGY, Sep 10)

We broke 30k every game ...30 084 for the exhibition vs SSK was the lowest, and most crowds were in the 35-38k range.

Attendance was more consistent this year.

Likely to do with increased season ticket holders

I wasn't too happy with the Attendance this year... lower than usual IMO.. i think the up and down season for us had a major part in it. 2002 we had Avery and Ray drawing people in.. last year we had Ray doing his thing... this year it was just too up and down...

Yeah, this year was pretty consistent, but last year it was higher and consistent.

(2003:
Total fans: 442 585
Regular season avg: 41 228
Overall avg: 40 235
Biggest crowd: 62 444 (W 38-0 vs CGY, Sep 5)
Smallest crowd: 30 109 (L 34-16 vs MTL, Jun 21)
4 crowds in the 44-45k range.
4 crowds in the 30-35k range.)
