Looks like the Snowbirds are finally going to get rid of their 45 year old Tutor jets. Purchasing 'used' Swiss Hawks is actually not as bad as it sounds as the US Navy uses 'hand me down' F-18's and the US Air Force Thunderbirds uses boneyard bound F-16's as well. Even though they are no longer combat useful they still serve the purpose of flying airshows. And since the Hawk is already Canada's modern jet trainer, having the Snowbirds use the same jet is Fantastic news given that the alternative would be disbanment of the Squadron all together. IMO the Snowbirds are a Canadian ICON and something that we can be very proud of and for them to finally get long overdue 'new' aircraft is outstanding news.
