I am certain they are French Canadians, read the thread that follows as well. It is confirmed in their. But I knew they were Canadian before I read the thread.

Secondly, Nook, I saw a piece on the F-22 in "Future Weapons" on Discovery and figured you would have something to say about it? It looked pretty amazing to me.
The F-22 is totally amazing. I actually know the guy that filmed the program. He is an Edmonton-boy. He worked for ITV, Global, and CBC. He use to work the cameras at Oilers games. The Edmonton Journal ran a story when he was given security access to the F-22 for the filming of the Discovery program.

here's what I am seeing......this is the best screenshot I could get that showed the arm patch.
            (marked patch)

Then I opened it with Picassa, cropped it, and blew it up. The pixel quality drops off but it looks to me like two different colours on either side of the white field (which should have a maple leaf in it if it was a canadian patch).

Once it's established that it is in fact a French Patch, then the CADPAT camo design makes no sense.

I think they sound Quebecois. That, and the cadpat, I agree with Nanookster.

I think at the 22 second mark you can see the Maple Leaf. Obviously it will be hard to see with the resolution that this film is shot in.

Here is an image of a French Army soldier shooting the same weapon:

Note the size of the flag on this uniform. I have never seen a smaller one on any French uniform.

And here is another of French Army soldiers firing the same weapon:

The French uniform is much like the older US camo, it has allot of tan in it. Note the lack of a flag and it is nowhere similar to CADPAT.

And then look at this link:

                http://www.combatcamera.forces.gc.ca...e=combatcamera

These are Canadian soldiers who look to be firing the same weapon on the same range. Note the CADPAT and the similar flak jackets.

I am 100% certain the video is on soliders from the Vandoo's in Quebec.

fair enough 'Nook, I may be wrong...but I just don't see the Maple Leaf that you said you could see in the video.....

                    I know it isn't clear.

I'll send you one of mine. We wear a velcro color Canadian Flag on our left shoulder in that position. If you flip the tab we have a low-viz flag under it. We can swap them out.

I was wrong about the weapon. It is French made and both Canada and the US uses it. I've asked a friend of mine in Ottawa if he can find a misfire report on this incident. Hopefully it will have some images to back up my claim.

As I mentioned, I am 100% certain on this. I'd bet my home, family, a million bucks on it (Don't show my wife this post).

Think you are right NOOK. An ex army friend of the family said it's Cdn. camo, and the weapon is an ERYX ATM. He did two tours in Bosnia, both when a lot of fighting was going on there. Said the ERYX is crap and both France and Canada have used it. He thinks it's the Vandoos like you suggested.

Typed in french atm flop on computer search engine and it came up with a blog at MILITARY PHOTOS.NET where several ex military chaps agree with NOOK that it is Cdn. Forces. Again ,I apologize for not having the computer skills to post it.

I think they sound distinctly Quebecois as well.

Oh, because we're on the topic of the French:
"I'd rather have a German Division in front of me than a French one behind."

I think people assumed they were French because they all ran away.
