If they announce income splitting then Harper has my vote.

      They won't. Not this year.

Not presents that expensive, mate. income splitting will cost Billions per year.

The only thing left to see is when the Conservatives will call an election. The opposition sure aren't going to bring them down.

I wouldn't vote for them anyways but I'm all in favour of income splitting if they put in a single persons deduction that will be of equivelant benefit. Otherwise screw it.

Didn't the Libs have a big lead prior to the last election? This lead might be a little safer.
When you don't know that you don't know, it's a lot different than when you do know that you don't know.

You know, you often go into how "single people get screwed"...but I don't buy it in all instances.

Take things like CPP, OAS, GIS, Disability, AISH, etc, and there are others -- the amount of benefit for a married couple is less than that sum of the benefit for two individuals on their own. that is, per capita amounts are LESS for a couple than they are for an individual.

Another example are that qualifications for most subsidies are based on family income -- where there is only a single person (rather than a couple), the single's "family income" is his own which is much less than a couple, so that single will get subsidized whereas the couple may not.

The Conservatives already brought in income splitting for seniors. For now that's all it will be. If the win a majority this year you'll get the full deal within 5, but not this year.

I think the Liberal Flip Flop on the Terror Bill also hurt them.

HULLO...you were the freakin' party that introduced the piece of legislation in the first place. And now that the Conservatives want to extend YOUR LEGISLATION, you decide to vote it down?

How does that make any sense?
