    Download Festival - Headliners?

    ... what the hell?

How on earth do you have My Chemical Romance and Linkin Park (the other Headliner is Maiden - so at least they got something right....) as headliners while bands like Motley Crue and Megadeth are there?

All in all it looks like it'll be a great show:

Maiden, Motley Crue, Megadeth, Dream Theater, Killswitch: Engage and Dragonforce are some of my favourite bands, but having MCR as the headliner? That's so wrong, on so many levels. What ever happened to earning your stripes and showing some respect for the legends?
"This year, we did what we were supposed to do. We fought as a team. We fought as a team. And the fact is, we gotta go back and go to work, to make sure we finish this next time. That's all we gotta do. This right here makes us stronger. Let's understand who we are as a team. Let's understand this right here makes us stronger." - Ray Lewis, January, 2012.

Actually Maiden is the main Headliner
I will not, for a moment longer, support an organization who chooses to cowardly kneel where they once fiercely & proudly stood

Really? I thought the main headliner was on Saturday?

My excuse is that I live in Edmonton, so I'm not familiar enough with festivals

Anyway, that makes it a bit better... but having MCR and Linkin Park over those other bands is still a tragedy.

The last time Maiden headlined Donnington, they sold out the whole weekend in under two hours..... with no other bands even mentioned at at time.

I'd absolutely kill to go to that concert. Seriously. One of Maiden's live albums is Donnington is it not?

Found the answer. 1992. Time to up the Irons and give it a listen

Maiden's Live at Donington is a terrible recording, IMHCO.

With Download you have to remember that it's not North America. Motley Crue are even less relevant there.

The recording isn't the best but the performance is pretty good.

They've done better, but it's not bad. the recording is so bad it's unlistenable, IMHCO.

Think of it as a double cd bootleg! The crowd was definitely into it.

I love Steve Harris, but the man does not know how to produce a recording, live or studio.

Agreed. To be honest, I'm not enamoured with Caveman either.

I think he's done a better job than anything they've done recently, including their last few albums with Birch

Well it sounds better than the Harris produced albums. But I disagree that it sounds better than Somewhere in Time or Seventh Son.

Shirley knows how to give it a fuller sound, but he doesn't know how to record drums, and he's willing to accept takes that Birch would have made them do over.
