    Canada's Seven Wonders

    http://www.cbc.ca/sevenwonders/index.html

My choices are Niagara Falls, Northern LIghts, Drumheller, Old Quebec City, the Rockies, the Bay of Fundy and Cabot Trail. I've seen five of these.

But I think the Rockies is too general a description for one of the most beautiful places in the world. I'd narrow it down to the scenery around the Icefields Parkway.

I think that a bagel, a road, a building or a bridge would have to be really, really special to qualify for me, so I'm going for the natural wonders. Canada has lots of those.

7 wonders? Don't they usually come in sets of two?

I'd vote for the Cypress Hills in Sask

I mean, isn't it a wonder that there are hills in Sask???

Southwest Sask is actually pretty decent.

Or... they should add one more to the list as one of Canada's 7 Wonders:

The Saskatchewan Roughriders winning the Grey Cup.

You see that MAYBE once a lifetime!

A person has a better chance of seeing the Hale-Bopp comet 2x in their lifetime than they do watching a Sask Grey Cup victory.

                        Re: Canada's Seven Wonders

I'd have to break down my picks into sections.

                        Natural Wonders:

                        Niagara Falls
                        Drumheller
                        Cabot Trail
                        The Rockies
                        Cathedral Grove
                        Columbia Icefield
                        Northern Lights

                        Man-made/Engineered:

                        CN Tower
                        Confederation Bridge
                        Pier 21
                        Quebec City architecture
                        Rideau Canal
                        Pamela Anderson
and last but certainly not least... Commonwealth Stadium
Look. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

                            Re: Canada's Seven Wonders

random thoughts re: some other natural wonders...

The Milk River Canyon in S.E. Alberta (and home to cacti, lizards, scorpions, etc) to me trumps the badlands (having been to both). The thing about the Milk River Canyon is that nobody knows where it is, it gets less than 200 visitor per year, and if you break down there it's a 2-day walk to the nearest farm house (unless a rancher happens to be out checking on his cattle).

And from a fossil standpoint, while the dinos of the badlands are popular, the totally weird creatures of the Burgess Shale in BC are way more interesting scientifically. Many of the beast discovered there still can't be accurately classified.

The Old Growth forests on Vancouver Island. Trees 2-300 feet tall! Places like Carmanah, Cathedral Grove, Nootka Sound, The Queen Charlotte Islands etc. are beyond spectacular. These forests are part of an extremely rare 'temperate rain forest' with very few like them anywhere in the world.

Off the coast of Vancouver Island, near Barkley Sound (inbetween Uculet and Bamfield) is some of the most diverse temperate marine fauna. Octopi with a 12ft arm span aren't unusual; very primitive 'sea pens' which are related to primitive crinoids (relatives of starfish that long predate dinosaurs); crustaceans and fish in enormous variety and abundance. And of course the whales, seals, otters that get all the fame.

The High Arctic. It may not be unique (in that there are many similarites with Russia, Greenland and such) but it's still an amazing place. There are cliff faces that rise 1000ft straight out of the Arctic Ocean and they are teeming with Seabirds. The Ocean up there itself filled with seals, walrus, belugas, polar bear and one of the coolest creatures of all, the Narwhal!
                            Turf Toe:
                            - "...turf toe is a common malady that is more of a nuisance than a serious injury."
                            - "Turf toe can often progress into a chronic problem..."
                            - "A mild instance of turf toe (grade 1) can be merely aggravating while a serious case (grade 3) can be debilitating."

While we're talking about once in a lifetime experiences...how bout Henry Burris winning a playoff game?
I officially retract my vote for DDS as Prime Minister. He's clearly incompetent.
