    Bhutto's assassination

Wasn't her biggest fan but this has all the markings of a cover-up of some sort. The fact her own workers and supporters saying they saw her with bullet wounds clouds what the government is trying to say happened.

This is just another blow to any chance of peace in that area.

Why does it matter if she was killed by a shot to a head or the suicide bomber? Does it make a difference on who was behind the attack. Either way, you have 2 guys trying to kill her, and one of them being successful, or a combination of both.

      Re: Bhutto's assassination

I agree with your comments. I have reservations about Bhutto who had the one of the most corrupt governments that Pakistan has ever seen but ultimately she represented the interests of "modernity" and social enlightenment for the Pakistani people.

There are a number of parallels here with the JFK assasination. On the one hand, a mercurial leader who was deeply flawed but on the other hand a sense of optimism that was undeniable.

It is also interesting how within 24 hours of the murder there is a conspiracy theory and a number of questions that can never be answered. Little wonder that after almost half a century we can't agree how JFK died. Within 24 hours we can't agree how Bhutto died.

God, we are a sorry mess as a species

Kennedy = who was behind the grassy knoll?
Bhutto = who was behind the sand dune?
I officially retract my vote for DDS as Prime Minister. He's clearly incompetent.

With JFK though, there was the question of whether or not there was a second shooter, and it would have huge implications because Oswald wasn't working for anyone, it was supposed to be him acting alone....the knowledge of a second shooter would bring to light that someone else was behind his assassination.

With this case, we know that there are two people attempting the assassination, and whether or not who was successful doesn't change the fact that there was an attempt....whoever both those men were working for, (if they were working for someone) have blame in this.

I've yet to hear that it was 100% two people yet. Whether it was one or two, what the government is saying is not coinciding with what everyone else saw. That is how its like JFK, IMO.

So, they had a shooter, but tried to hide the shooter by having a suicide bomber?

Could they have been one and the same? No one knows yet unless there is some brand new info that I've not seen yet.

I remember feeling that way in 1995 when they cut into Days of our Lives to announce some stupid bombing. That bombing? Oklahoma City Bombing. I sure grew up a little that day....You?

This is a public message board so I'm going to be blunt about my opinion here. I honestly could give a rats ass about this. Sorry if that offends any of you or makes me a bad guy but they are so screwed up over there and it will never change. Bush can butt in and try to be the hero and and send a million troops into Pakistan but nothing will work. Just when things look like they are settling down crap like this happens. All I can say is that I'm very thankful I live in Canada where we don't all get along 100% but at least I don't have to worry about getting in my car tomorrow morning and being blown away.

You are free to not care but after all this is an opinion board. That's why it's listed as "other topics." Obviously its not for the main stream sports stuff.

The problem with not caring is that with the Muslim birth rate in North America and Europe we are headed for a very different looking society in the upcoming decades. That means that Pakistan's problems today are our problems tomorrow.

I know. Usually I just stay out of the threads that are of no interest to me. Not trying to cause a big **** storm or anything.

This is probably a very pessimistic view on my part but I see it as it hasn't happened to me yet this far so I will deal with it when or if it should happen.

The Muslims who come here though are much less extreme than in the Mid-East, and they come here because they don't like that kind of life. So, first of all, it's not as if there is going to be huge increase the muslim population percentage that we'll have huge changes in political ideologies and concerns, and secondly, those muslims who come here are much more likely to adopt a western style of life.....they came here for a reason.
