    Churchill Square Dome

The geodesic dome could even be used to house homeless people overnight, Krushell suggested.
I have no problem with the idea of the dome but Krushell needs to be smacked in the head for even suggesting this. Yes, let's make the centre of our city a part-time homeless shelter...
I thought I wanted a career; turns out I just wanted paychecks.

Why oh why can't the city get it's transit, police and emergency services fully funded before spending money on things like this?

I would if the city was happy giving up those three things to the province, which they wouldn't dream of.

            Dumb idea, IMO.

Putting domes over downtowns seems to be a popular idea is this day and age. I imagine that in 100 years indoor cities could be pretty popular.

I was thinking more along the lines of Logan's Run or The Truman Show

Krushell should shut up for a change - she never met a microphone she didn't like.

                      Cheers,

                        Re: Churchill Square Dome

I wouldn't have an issue with this dome, because it does kind of bring in a different way to use Churchill Square year-round, BUT this city has waaaaaaaay more important things to spend money on right now. Public transit is a friggen mess, homeless people are everywhere, etc.
They bring up that it might be good to house homeless people in the winter, but I'd rather see them take that money and build a real shelter first.

Has anyone gone to any of the summer outdoor movies they have at Churchill? Its a great event, but as the night goes on there are more and more homeless people gathering around. It wouldn't be a big deal, but the large majority are intoxicated and some have been a little aggressive. Its a little unnerving, especially for parents who have a group of little ones with them. Combining a family event in the winter with it being a place for the homeless to gather would not be a good combination, IMO.
