Saskatchewan town wants back $10,000 for tsunami donation

    http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/natio...1/25/returned- tsunami-donation050125.html

Way to have your priorities straight

I guess their fireworks are more important than potentially life saving money for many people...

What a black eye to Saskatchewan....

Maybe they set 'em off so they might get rescued by a passing plane...?

or using them to signal other people on the other side of Saskatchewan.. sorta like Smoke Signals... would save on phone bills..

            the link still doesn't work......

sounds more like a black-eye to that specific town (council) more than the entire populace of Saskatchewan.....

cbc.ca is "having a problem" so I can't read article but IMHO this makes the Saskatchewan government look as smart as the people that hung the Canadian flag wrong.

There are just certain things you don't do...asking for relief money back is one of them.

This bad boy worked for me, hope it works for you all so you can read the story. I can sum this up in one word - "weak". Good thing Meadow Lake will have that extra 10,000 grrr for its fireworks fund instead of..oh...say buying a child some drinking water.

That is weak.....I didn't see anything about fireworks or justification, but whatever it is can't compare to releiving some of the suffering that the victims are having to endure....

                      That is so very true..

I heard on the news that people in one of the poorest countries are even donating money they themselves need , to the victims of this disaster..

Real inconsiderate if you ask me. Id feel embarrassed to ask for that money back.

Anything to take a shot a whole province, I guess. And before anybody gets up in arms about me defending any of this, I'm an Albertan.

Perhaps the blame lies more with a couple of people on council or maybe even just one, the mayor, than either the citizens of the town or the province. I guess, in the extreme, one could extrapolate this to smear all of Canada... Kind of silly, isn't it?

On the whole, it does seem ridiculous to ask for it back. I guess they can hire back the juggler and the magician for the centennial celebration now....

As I said earlier, it looks poorly upon Meadow Lake and their town council. They are the only ones involved and finger waving shouldn't go any further than that....
