    My Ghost Stories, As Requested

Since I liked the ramblings thread, I decided to make a separate thread for ghost stuff.
Here are a few things that I can think of off the top of my head:

-When I was around 9 and the boy my parents babysat was 8, we were sitting in the basement playing transformers. At the same time, we both looked up and saw a figure watching us, then it moved into the laundry room. Kyle and I looked at each other and without saying a word ran upstairs as fast as we could.

-My brother was home alone in the basement, sitting on a bench going through his CDs. A popped kernel of popcorn suddenly hit him in the chest and hit the ground. He doesn't eat popcorn, so it wasn't a piece he had eaten earlier and was just stuck to his shirt or something.

-I was home alone, in the basement, and has a piece of popcorn hit me in the cheek.

-The bathroom tap will turn on full blast in the middle of the night, then turn off.

-My brother and his old girlfriend were sitting at the kitchen table, where they had sight down the hallway. The bathroom door is at the end of the hallway. The bathroom door suddenly shut. Water ran, then the door opened back up.

-My friend Jenn and I were sitting at the kitchen table one night when no one else was home, we were in grade 10 at the time. My parents bedroom door swung open, when I knew I had shut it early because their room was a mess and didn't want my friend to see it if she walked past it to use the bathroom. It kind of freaked us out, but we both thought it was the wind. I checked out all the windows- none were open. So I closed the door and sat back at the kitchen table. Door opened again, not just slightly, it SWUNG open. I checked it out again and closed the door again. It SWUNG open. So this time I locked the door (took the bedroom key with me) and closed it. Checked the handle to make sure it was locked and securely closed. Sat back down. It swung open. I went back to the door and the lock was unlocked. I can understand wind messing with doors, but there was no wind and how could wind UNLOCK a handle?

-My sister, her friend, and I were sitting in our living room. No one else was home because they were at my brother's high school grad. My sister's room was being redone at the time, so there was no flooring, just the plywood. We heard loud scratching coming from her room, like nails were scratching on it. We thought it was the dog or cat, but they were outside. We were freaked out, so like a dork, I grabbed my dreamcatcher before walking in there. Swear on my entire life, the second I walked into my sister's room, my dreamcatcher fell apart.

-Cupboards have swung open and slammed shut.

    -Items have fallen off counters

-My sister was babysitting at the neighbors. The little girl had a Barney doll that you could pull the string to make it talk. The doll started talking when it was on the other side of the room. At that same house, the fridge door would swing open and slam shut.

-I'm friends with the next door neighbor's daughter. I was over there one day with two other friends. We were sitting in the basement just hanging out and my friend's back started to burn (the friend that lived there). She said it really hurt so I lifted up the back of her shirt and looked at her back. She had deep, dark red scratch marks down her back. They looked fresh as if someone had just dug deep nails all down Sarah's back.

-My brother was in bed on night and he suddenly felt a lot of pressure on his legs. He flipped on a lamp and looked at his feet. It looked like there was a dent in his blankets, right over his legs. He thought the leg pressure was a cramp so he stood up. He saw a big indent in the mattress where his legs were get deeper, then it slowly went back into place, then there was a dent, then know dent. No he was not drunk and my brother does NOT do drugs lol

-Radio stations would change. The station wouldn't just get messed up, you could literally watch the dial change stations.

-I was sitting in my basement with my brother. I was on one side of the room, he was on the other. He went upstairs to get food and he left the remote on the chair. I knew he had left it because I looked at it, contemplated getting my butt up to grab it, realized I was too lazy, so I stayed where I was. Then the TV shut off, I heard a girl giggle, I said "What the f---?", then the TV went back on. The cd player I was next to turned on, then off. I ran my arse upstairs and my brother refused to back down there when I told him why I ran up the stairs.

My mom told us of stuff that happened at the house before us kids were born, but my Dad always thought she was nuts. Then more stuff started happening and he started to believe her.
I could probably call my brother and get more stories from him. OH-- I just remembered him telling me a story of being in his room and electronics going funny, then that he hear a laugh when it happened. I said to him, "I heard a laugh before too! Like a young girl laugh." He said, "That's what I heard, but it wasn't really young like a kid-" I interrupted him and said, "Not a kid, but like a young teen!" And he agreed.

Cool stories. And I bet everyone of them has a reasonable explanation that apply to the laws of physics and science.

        Agree to disagree.

I never saw science unlock a door handle.

          Great stories.

I am a skeptic about things like this. I do look to the "scientific" explanation.

But then you have your own experience that you just can't explain and you know in your gut something weird happened. That, I have found, you cannot shake - no matter what explanation is given.

lock pick?....ya I know, not what you meant, but perhaps poor wording on your part.

Locks can be faulty, especially in old houses....old foundation, perhaps deteriorated, slight angle causes cabinets or doors to swing open and the force can also swing them back shut depending on the hinge. Pipes can be faulty, causing them to fail and have water rush through the pipes...your friend's scars could be something with her family but didn't want to talk about.....kids see figures all the time, imagination at work or possible an actual person looking at you. There's no such things as ghosts, and if there were...why would they go around swinging doors and turning on the taps? There's no motive there.

Alas, I'm not going to convince you, and you're not going to convince me. So ya, as you said, we'll agree to disagree....and it does make for interesting stories.

Good stories. Hearing a little kid laughing would have made me wet my pants.

I'd be skeptic too, if I hadn't had the experiences I have.

The house was only 2 tears old when my parents bought it, so what happened to my mom can't be explained away by it being an old home.
The lock on my parents door was no more than a year old, so age wasn't an issue. Then that happens to be the one and only time the lock failed? I've seen faulty locks prevent a door from staying locked. I have never seen a faulty lock unlock itself and then swing the door open.
Faulty pipes can turn a tap?
An old house can throw popcorn?

I find the non-believers tend to be the ones that have never really experienced anything really strange.

Proof that ghosts don't exist.....I've never heard a story of hauntings in the Playboy mansion. If I was a ghost, that's the first place I'm headed.

I've never experienced anything like this personally, but I've read too many books on the subject and seen too many of these stories retold on TV to really be a skeptic.

Most of the time ghosts tend to be people from a past life who had a gruesome or violent death, or those for whom there is no body to be found.

All that proves is that spirits aren't the pervert you are.

Don't you get it? They moved the graveyard but not the bodies.

Was renting a house with a buddy of mine, and we had some ghosts living with us. They were a pain in the butt most of the time, but sometimes would help out too!
                            - If you left the kitchen while you were cooking something...they'd shut the stove off. K-mac could be boiling away, you leave to answer the phone and come back in...water would be cold.
                            - I couldn't leave anything under my bed. You know...you stuff the clothes underneath when the little chickie is going to be staying over...come back it's out from under the bed. Or even better, you stuff it under before you go to bed and then it's out when you wake up in the morning. (incentive to keep my room clean but damn...)
                            - Garbage would get taken out when both my room mate and I swore we didn't do it.
                            - Ceiling fan in his room would always get turned off. While we were at work, or during the night while he slept...over a weekend when nobody was home.
There was other stuff too...but these are the ones that always stick in my head.

There was also the Ghost Walk tour in Victoria where something kept opening my backpack until I got mad and said "quit f*$#ing around...leave me alone!". The other people in the group thought I was a kook, but my backpack quit opening...unless there were some pretty stealthy ninjas following me...I don't think it was part of the tour. I can see them playing noises and stuff to spook some people, but when you hear it, but others don't...but some do hear the exact same thing so you know you're not imagining it...
