Any Snow-mobilers here?
I should preface this thread by stating that I don't sled anymore...and that it's been at least a decade or more since I've gone on a ski-doo.
But with the rash of avalanches this season that have killed a number of weekend warriors, I continued to be surprised ... no, make that disappointed ... to hear that these people are dying after triggering an avalance by high-marking.
For those of you not familiar with the term, high-marking is basically a process where you run your snow-mobile straight up the face of a mountain and see how far you can make it before you have to turn around.
While no-doubt exciting, this dramatically increases the possibility of an avalance because you are shifting the snow pack at high altitudes that normally isn't disturbed all winter.
Some of the people they have interviewed about it have said "Better to die doing what you love". What maroons...do none of these sled-heads have families!?!?!?
