'Twas a Dark and Stormy Night

Anyone else get caught in the storm? Just as we were leaving Capital Ex the winds pickup up and covered my deep-fried Oreos with a healthy dose of gravel...I'm still picking the rocks out of my hair.

Then on the drive back we drove by a downed lightpost and multiple downed trees.

I was watching a friend play ball down at John Fry...HUGE dark cloud rolled in fast, didn't start raining yet, but it got so dark...was really kinda cool. Got out of there before the wind/rain kicked up badly.

On the drive home, the railway crossing barriers at 34 Ave/Calgary Trail were blown over/snapped.
We're cheering Fight Fight Fight On Eskimos...

South West is full of lightning and winds...

My girlfriend lives in the SE and had a huge table on her deck go flying right off of it.

My buddy lives by Rexall.... power's out, and he got home and there was a snapped tree right where he parks (Steve, Jase).

... and apparently part of the CN building collapsed....

The irony being, in this case that gravel probably does make it healthier
Look. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

Lots of downed tree branches on 97th Street between 118 Ave and Park Memorial. Not sure what that Ave but it was like a slalom course driving down there.

There was no power on Whyte Ave. People were spilling out of the bars and there were no traffic lights working at all. It was rather nuts.

And I got caught in the hailstorm as I was walking to my car on Whyte.

                  Fun night!!!

                        BOLO!

My sister-in-law's neighbour has one of those canvas structures that you erect to park a car under. It disappeared last night in the storm. If you see one somewhere near 124 Street south of the Yellowhead, let me know and I'll help it get returned to its owner.

                        BOLO 2!

My DD was at the Cap-Ex last night when the storm hit. As she and her friend ran to their car the friend dropped her digital camera. If found....you get the message.

                        Wow, tough storm last night.

Lots of big highway signs down east of the city, petro-can refinery lost a quanset building that collapsed, two trees snapped off at mid height near 75st 98 ave.

My power was out from about 10:30 Sat to about noon on Sunday.

Was just taking my dog out for a walk, thought I would beat the storm coming in. That 1st evil looking storm cloud moved faster than any cloud system I've even seen. I got 1/2 a block away and had to turn around and run back to the house. The dog was going wtf? You.....running?

Lost power for a couple of hours that night. Got up the next day. Went to the store. Driving down my street it was eerie. My neighbourhood looked like a war zone. Trees down, branches everywhere, fences ripped out....massively fortunate and blessed that I had no damage to my place.
