The company I work for sells a bunch of the stands that you use to put your GPS on the window...do yourself a favour, get a good quality one, most of the ones I've seen are rubbish.

No it is not.

I rented a car in California last Christmas and it had one on the top of the dash. I don't see the difference of that position and a little further up on the window.

I know, I run mine up to the right of the rear view mirror, and it is not in the way at all, and way less than if it were right on the dash. Which is wear I put mine when we were in Cali last fall.
