Woman barred from entering Quebec Classroom -- again

    http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/1...e_school_niqab

I got to admit that I'm in favor of the Quebec schools here. There is a limit as to how much you can force on a country / province / community...and I'm somewhat glad to see someone actually taking a stand and saying "the line is drawn here".

"She's devastated," Majzoub said. "This woman was insisting on being part of Quebec society, on integrating."
    uh huh....
I will not, for a moment longer, support an organization who chooses to cowardly kneel where they once fiercely & proudly stood

If she really wants to integrate, then integrate! Lose that which is segregating yourself from others.
Before you insult a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you insult him, you'll be a mile away, and have his shoes.

At first I thought the QC government was being a little anal, but it makes sense if they need to look at your mouth to see the way you speak. I don't think that's asking too much.

IIRC, according to the Qu'ran a woman only has to have her head covered, not her entire face (someone correct me if I'm wrong), so I'm not sure why she can't make that simple accomodation.

If you can't integrate yourself into our country then perhaps the best thing for her to do is to go back to where she came from.

Good grief she's in Montreal. Though it used to be the place where you couldn't throw a rock without hitting a church window, these days it's one of the most secularized cities in the country (the big cross on the hill outstanding). When Montrealers see people so steered by their religion, I wonder if it brings back bad memories of the Grande Noirceur under Duplessis where the church played a huge factor in the patronage and corruption?

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Yes. Heaven forbid when it subjugates women and treats them as second class citizens.

Walk two steps behind and hide your faces should have NO place in our society.

People need to remember that when they come here it is THEY who have to adapt, not the other way around. We are a tolerant country, and that's something to be proud of. But as I said, the walk two steps behind and cover your face sharia law crap should have no place in our society.

What's next? Paying people because of their race? Oh, wait...

It's 1 thing to let foreigners live by their own culture traditions - but when those traditions will prevent you from integrating into our culture, then perhaps it's time to go.

Millions of immigrants in the history of Canada have successfully integrated into Canadian society productively - there's no reason this woman can't either - if she wants to.

And meanwhile the rest of us hate you . But you sure showed us, mate.

Just wait, mate. A report yesterday says that minorities will be the majority in several major Canadian cities by 2031. Think that a government made up of people whose parents were from Africa, China and the caribbean will be as easily pushed around by first nations as us white people have been? Think again.

                    Go immigration!

Let me ask you this...Do you know where all the social/education programs that were put in place to try and help immigrant children integrate into what I guess you could call 'Canadian culture'? That's right all the bloody funding for it was cut.

I know growing up here in Calgary there were certain kids who just were never going to have a real chance to fit in. They talked funny, they spoke poor english, they did things that were weird but I was always one of the one's who told my friends to pipe down and show them some respect. And it's because of how I was taught by my parents. You respect others and their differences are to be celebrated...not mocked. And guess what? There are still far too many parents in my mind who are intolerant of others. And it continues to trickle down. I still see it everyday...

Ha, I think you have a warped view of immigrants...quite frankly.

But I'm not in the mood for race wars today, so...

I thought we were a tolerant society. I don't care if it treats women poorly, that's her culture, that's her religion, and that's her choice.

Let all immigrants come in and keep their culture as long as they don't oppress others. She's not oppressing women, she's oppressing herself and that's it. She's not going to start a wave of anti-femitism. In time maybe she becomes a little more liberal in her beliefs and change her beliefs slightly.

But regardless of whether she does or not, we should be tolerant and let everyone live their life the way they want.

We're not talking about a kid who's being bullied at school for dressing different or talking different. This is a woman who refuses to abide by a simple rule so that she has the means to communicate with other people in Quebec society.

This is a rebel without a cause, not a minority who's being discriminated against.
