    Simple Question:

Who are your personal favourites when it comes to guitar?

              Very much so.

Jam bands naturally have very good guitarists, its a product of the music. Trey is the prototype for what any jam band would want as a guitarist.

Tim isnt so much a jam band guitarist, but the guy is sick. His stuff with Dave Matthews is incredible too.

And Jerry is well, like none other!

                Re: Your Favourite Guitar Players?

Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, Hendrix, Willie Nelson (don't laugh, the dude is good!), B.B. King, and any and all guitarists from Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Oh, and I can't forget Stevie Ray Vaughn.

(I'm showing my age on this one, eh?)

                  A noble list no doubt.

But Hendrix, although revolutionary, wasnt an incredible guitarist. Just my take.

I wouldn't necessarily disagree with you. But he changed the way that people looked at the guitar. And I love (almost all) his music.
Same with Willie Nelson, (don't laugh!). He's not the worlds greatest guitarist, but he plays with a style that I've never heard before.

I've always thought the same but never really say it for fear of being hung up around a tree. I always thought that Cream-era Clapton was...well....God.

As far as jam bands go, I love Gov't Mule. Saw them in Calgary last November. Warren Haynes is awesome. I've also always loved both the Allmans original guitarists. never listened to much Dave Matthews but I do think I got a live CD lying around somewhere, I should check it out.

I feel the same way about Keith Richards. I only recently got really into the Stones and his Rythem style is was so unique during that time, especially on songs like Honky Tonk Woman, Monkey Man and some of that stuff off of Exile.

Right, he was very revolutionary and changed the way it was played, but now that hes revolutionized it, there are many people today who are better guitarist than him. Hey I respect the hell out of Jimmy and love his music, but to call him amazing is a bit over the top IMO.

Warren Haynes is great. Seen him with Allman Bros and Gov't Mule. The show in Calgary was great, great personal atmosphere. You should definately check out Xavier Rudd at the Folk Festival, as well Jeff Tweedy from Wilco will have an acoustic band there which should be good.

Definately check out Dave Matthews Band, preferably a live release. So much musical talent amounst the whole band.

Fair enough. As long as we can agree that you're wrong and I'm right!

But I do understand your point.
