Re: Best and Worst Films of 2005

I just watched the 40 Year Old Virgin last night and it was damn funny. Easily one of my favorite movies of the year. The other movie I really liked (probably even more than my kid) was Wallace and Gromit: Return of the Were Rabbit.

For bad movie, I don't know. I don't really watch enough movies to make such judgements. Although I do have a special hatred for Just Friends. They filmed the movie about half a block from my house last year and it was a freakin gong show.
It's gonna be legen... wait for it, and I hope you're not lactose intolerant because the second half of the word is ...dary....

    LEGENDARY

        10) The Dukes of Hazzard - Haven't seen it
        9) Fantastic Four - Seen it (and liked it, it was way better than Batman begins and I'm a comic nerd)
        8) The Interpreter - Haven't seen it (doesn't look that great)
        7) Monster In Law - Haven't seen it (don't plan to either)

        5) Constantine - Seen it (Liked it - don't ask me why, but I thought the visuals in this movie were very cool and even though the plot was weak, it was also unique)
        4) The Island - Haven't seen it
        3) Star Wars Episode III - Seen it (liked it - the best of the first 3 episodes by far)

I also have to note that my taste in movies is different from many. In my view, the "action" genre is out of gas, and the "cop buddy" movie should be banned. When it comes to movies that rely on chase sequences and explosions, its all been done already, and likely better in the 80s.

I like original ideas and movies that make you think. I like comedy that pushes boundaries.

              I agree.
But I'd add that comedy that pushes boundaries doesn't necessarily mean trying to be 'grosser' than last weeks 'gross out' movie.
In some shows (40 year old Virgin, for example) tasteless can be hilarious. But in others, tasteless is just tasteless.

Like Tom Green jacking off a horse? I agree......some things are just stupid and tasteless for no reason.

                    what was wrong with it?

the story was good (didn't deviate too too much from the comic - go to space bombarded by cosmic rays).....the casting was pretty good.....effects were good......

Worst: Nik Spewis' 'all star highlight reel'
                      Best: 2005 Grey Cup

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was one of the 'Best' for me.
