Re: By weeks end will anyone be left in Kleins cabinet?
Gee I told them to give me a meaningful tax break or eliminate health care premiums and they lowered the corporate tax rate by 1.5 % instead. Oh well the 63 million they gave to horse racing is certainly much more important than the 25 million they gave to seniors to address the 110 point list of long term care deficiencies. Priorities are priorities don't you know!Originally posted by jcrThat's a load of crap.

Sorry man in this case you are flat out wrong, look at the history of the Alberta PC's. They have caved on lobbying for energy deregulation, they have caved on the insurance industry lobby re max insurance payouts, they caved into whines from the meat packing industry after the mad cow thing. They have given the oil industry every conceivable break above and beyond what is prudent. These guys are manipulated easily by industry lobby groups.Originally posted by jcrIf anyone really thinks that a Premier, PM, Governor, or President just defers to their corporate donors then they really haven't spent enough time around these politicians.

Those that don't think that corporatations influence policy haven't spent enough time around successful businessmen.Originally posted by jcrIf anyone really thinks that a Premier, PM, Governor, or President just defers to their corporate donors then they really haven't spent enough time around these politicians.

The politicians only ever do enough to keep the donations rolling. And most corporate donors give to multiple parties. The politicians know this. These guys have egos way too fat to just give corporate cats whatever they want.Originally posted by Uncle BobbyThose that don't think that corporatations influence policy haven't spent enough time around successful businessmen.
There are loads of influences on public policy. The biggest influence comes from within: the bureaucracy. Not the corporations, unions or the public.

The Alberta PC's did deregulation based on ideology, not corporate influence. It was a flatout "classic liberalism" decision. Competition = good, monopoly = bad was the thinking. Nothing more than that.Originally posted by BeerfishSorry man in this case you are flat out wrong, look at the history of the Alberta PC's. If you're talking caving in, at least give the full list. Healthcare unions, teachers, doctors, nurses, municipalities, corporartions, the federal government...etc etc etc.
They're not just caving to corprations. They throw money and breaks everywhere. Those decisions are made in cabinet and influenecd mostly by the top level bureaucrats.

anyone else ever wondered why we pay world prices on our gas (etc) , yet we sell it at discounted rates to the States?
just askin.......Before you insult a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you insult him, you'll be a mile away, and have his shoes.

Don't take this as an endorsement, okay.
The reason we pay market prices is because Canada is still a net Oil importer. Plus, both the Government (both levels) and the Oil companies make more money by not pegging the price.
