10 things I don’t like about you – another MoneyGuy top-10 list
I've met several of you and I like many of my fellow members on this site, but sometimes I think certain people’s opinions are just plain wrong. Here are 10 things I don’t agree with you on. I won’t mention the posters I take exception with.
10. Mike Babcock is not a jerk, despite what one poster has said. He’s a genuine nice guy. You hate the opposition but I have to respect this guy.
9. Drew isn’t a jerk either. Well, maybe he is.
Haven’t met him yet. He’s entitled to his misguided opinions. I do wish he’d cheer for the Esks, though. I may change my mind on him once football season starts.
8. The Oilers will fare well under the new CBA. People said our eighth-place finish in the first season was proof that we wouldn’t fare any better under the new regime than before. I disagree.
7. Ales Hemsky can play on my team. Sorry, jcr. And I will take you off my sig file in a day or two. Yes, Hemmer has been invisible for periods at a time, but this is a kid who will blossom into a star, in my opinion.
6. Even before the playoffs, I was really glad that Mike Peca was on our side. I expected him to have a great playoff, and he’s been very solid.
5. The refs are not out to get us and there was no conspiracy to let the Wings into the second round. Bad calls went both ways, folks. Your bias is clouding your judgement. Sometimes your biases puzzle me.
4. Kipper is the best goalie in Alberta. Our guy has been terrific, but Kipper may be the best in the league. Playing him scares the crap out of me.
3. This one may get me lynched, but I’d take Iginla over any of our forwards. He’s a force. Don’t get me wrong, I love Smytty, Horcoff, Stoll and the like, but I’d take Jarome. Plus, he’s local. Can you imagine what a crowd fave he’d be up here?
2. Phoeneuf is showing his lack of experience and I hate him as a Flame, but he can play on my team any time. This guy will be hoisting the Norris in a few years. Man, I wish he was an Oiler. Those hits are amazing. And his shots!
1. I hate to break this to you, folks, but everything Calgary is not bad, ugly and terrible. It’s a great city with lots of attributes. I don’t like their teams or fans, but I like the city. If we play them next, I hope we beat the tar out of them, but the city is great. It’s not Edmonton, but still great.
