I need some help. I am doing a university paper on the analysis of rule changes in the CFL and their impact on the structure of the game and strategies utilized. I do not need help with the impact on the game, simply a list of all of the rule changes since the beginning of the CFL. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: History of CFL Rule Changes
What class are you doing this for, Mike?
Some of the older folks on here might be able to help better than I can
- don't know when the rules came in, but these might be some starting points.
Forward pass (introduction)
Point values (e.g. TD used to be worth 5, IIRC)
Field size (e.g. endzones reduced from 25 yds to 20 in 80's)
Kicking rules (punts, rouges, punter recovering live ball and such, etc.)
# of downs to gain x yds (used to be 3 for 5, IIRC? )
Roster sizes/ import/NI rules
Hope these help.
If you have any of the CFL Traditions series, the Origins episode might help you as well.

no, that was the cfl as well... at least I'm pretty sure Jackie Parker smoked while playing!Originally posted by Uncle BobbyI think at one time you could even smoke and drink beer on the field during play.
No wait, that's my flag football league.

I don't know much more than what's there
that's just off the top of my head. Date-wise...a lot of them are old, like black-and-white TV
but that's it.
Like I said before, if you've got any CFL Traditions tapes/DVDs, I think at least some of those dates should be able to be filled in by the Origins episode.
