Former CFL player James Edward Curry has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of his girlfriend, Jennifer Flores last Friday, according to a report in the Fresno Bee.

Ernest LiCalsi, the Madera County District Attorney, told the newspaper that Curry is expected to be arraigned on Wednesday.

Curry made a call to police on Friday to report a possible suicide. The police report indicates Curry was at the scene when officers arrived and found Flores' body. Police officials are calling the death suspicious.

Police arrested Curry on Monday. He is being held at the Madera County Jail and bail is set at $1 million.

Curry is a resident of Chowchilla California and is said have owned a business with Flores.

The former defensive tackle played for the B.C. Lions, Toronto Argonauts and Saskatchewan.

I remember when it was him and Don Wittman. The 80's version of Mark Lee and Walby.

Very badly. If anything, he deserved jail time for that.

If Curry deserved jail time for his colour work on CBC, they ought to be charging up Old Sparky for Chris Walby anytime now.

As much as I dislike Walby, he's John Madden compared to what Curry was.

Honestly, what more needs to be said??? What's the count up to now loyal Rider nation? 3 or 4 convicted criminals......stellar, just stellar.

Interesting that it was the Riders who moaned and bitched for a salary cap, and since a cap was put in place for them, they only years they've won they broke the salary cap rules.

Unfortuneately when a GM "rehabs" himself from a disadvantaged childhood he believes that every delinquent can be put on the straight path. Not recognizing the low odds of success he often takes on too many of these projects. You see it in every sport, whether it's the reclaimed drunk drivers or the "anger management" players.
It's the flip side of the GM who won't give a player with a strike against him a second chance.
                            - gotta be the toughest decision made by management. Who will repay your trust with performance?

While I'm one who is usually not against dumping on team safeway, in this case one should be carefull in doing so. Last I checked there are a few former Esks doing hard time for various offenses as well, most notibly Craig Shaeffer and Tom Tuinei. Every team will have their own list of bad boys.
