    Halifax

Well we all know that there is interest to have a CFL franchise here. The problem has been ofcourse a stadium with sutible seating capacity. They did have a exhibition game that did fairly well and i why couldn't you use the same feild/staduim and add temp stands like they use at the GrandPrix of edmonton? They have seating for something like 70-80K for the GP so in reality it shouldn't be to hard to put together a 30-40K setup there. Bruce Urban of WesternRV and the Edmonton Rush has stated that he is interested in owning a CFL team there. The thing would be if you were to add to teams to the east You would have to add another team to the west to balance everything. Any ideas on new loacations in the west for a CFL team? Could Victoria or somewhere like that support a team?
A lot of people go through life doing things badly. Racing is important to men who do it well. When you're racing, it's life. Anything that happens before or after is just waiting." Michael Delaney AKA- Steve McQueen

Victoria in the next 10 years I could easily see getting a team, I would love for it to happen.

Just add 2 teams in the east. Then put Winnipeg in the west. Done. Halifax and Quebec City.

That would be nice, but I have a feeling there may be regulations against using temporary seating in a permanent setting...plus I haven't seen the halifax stadium, but is there room to add more seating. don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Halifax get a team, I think there is a lot of support, but it has to be done right...the last thing the CFL needs is a lawsuit for endangering lives.

A permanent stadium would have to be built. Nova Scotia should just threaten to seperate unless they get a free stadium.

              Re: Halifax

I think what needs to happen is that several cities need to get together and approach the fed on a group funding plan for stadiums. Rather than trying to piecemeal this all together, there should be a feisable plan to upgrade existing and build new facilities for cities across the country

Huskies Stadium (where they held the ex game) near Saint Mary's U. is, IMO, most definitely NOT repeat NOT suitable for 30-40k of temp seating.

It seats 9k as it is (which I'm not sure I believe). They have a track around the field, but there's buildings and such on the other side from the main stands, meaning they MIGHT be able to fit MAYBE another 9k of temps on that side. 6k in the ends is pushing it because of more buildings, plus there's no way that you want a football stadium with only 60% of the seats on the sidelines.

It's not like this is in a big open field, here - it's in the middle of a campus. You would be hard-pressed to fit 30k of temps around Foote, and its location is a LOT more ideal for that than this is.

See for yourself...the Google Maps photo of it is here: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=b3h+3c...7522&t=k&hl=en

yeah......no way they fit 9k in that dinky little stand as it is......no way to get 20-30k in and around it either.......

Not a chance, I'm afraid. As much as I'd love to see a team here, I just don't see the people here supporting it, tho I'd definitely have season tix (and possibly Cats Eyes & Solar Max).

I also don't see the Lions going for it, for that matter... Kelowna area would probably be more likely to support a team, IMHO, and is far enough away that the Leos probably wouldn't be able to complain.

Stick another team in BC only after you've added 3 teams in the East (Ottawa, and any 2 of the Maritimes, Quebec City, London) to give us 12 teams.. but I don't think the league will get that big 'til we have some of those towns hit the 750,000 mark in the greater areas..

                      1. A stadium is needed.

                      2. NO private investor thus far is willing to step up.

                      3. No way government out there will just build one for a CFL team.
