DEFENSIVE BACK DECIDES NOT TO ENTER FREE AGENT MARKET
Mississauga - Last night, just minutes before he was set to become a free agent, defensive back Kenny Wheaton signed a two year deal with the Toronto Argonauts Football Club. 2004 was a great year for Texas resident Wheaton. In addition to having his first child, Kendall, Wheaton recorded 56 defensive tackles in the regular season. In the East Semi-Final, #30 set a CFL post-season record with a 116-yard interception return for a touchdown and earned a 1st runner-up mention as Defensive Player of the Week. He also recorded 7 defensive tackles in the Grey Cup win vs. B.C.
Toronto Argonauts Head Coach Michael "Pinball" Clemons commented, "In re-signing Kenny Wheaton, we welcome back a 'warrior'. Kenny played extremely well with multiple injuries last year and during the playoffs made several big plays that contributed to our Grey Cup triumph."

Wheaton would have generated much interest from other teams IMO
