    Wheaton re-signs with Argos

DEFENSIVE BACK DECIDES NOT TO ENTER FREE AGENT MARKET
Mississauga - Last night, just minutes before he was set to become a free agent, defensive back Kenny Wheaton signed a two year deal with the Toronto Argonauts Football Club. 2004 was a great year for Texas resident Wheaton. In addition to having his first child, Kendall, Wheaton recorded 56 defensive tackles in the regular season. In the East Semi-Final, #30 set a CFL post-season record with a 116-yard interception return for a touchdown and earned a 1st runner-up mention as Defensive Player of the Week. He also recorded 7 defensive tackles in the Grey Cup win vs. B.C.

Toronto Argonauts Head Coach Michael "Pinball" Clemons commented, "In re-signing Kenny Wheaton, we welcome back a 'warrior'. Kenny played extremely well with multiple injuries last year and during the playoffs made several big plays that contributed to our Grey Cup triumph."

Wheaton would have generated much interest from other teams IMO

I agree many teams would have seriously looked at him...

The Argos have been doing a lot of the little things right. And the players are responding by re-upping with the team (most of them anyway).

Because of this, they will be serious contenders again. Their only real concern... how much of a step do they lose regardless of who steps in when Gramps Allen goes down?

This is by no means the same team that the league propped up a few years ago. new owners looking to make good decisions changes things in a big way. Hamilton should be paying closer attention... Calgary too.
      Turf Toe:
      - "...turf toe is a common malady that is more of a nuisance than a serious injury."
      - "Turf toe can often progress into a chronic problem..."
      - "A mild instance of turf toe (grade 1) can be merely aggravating while a serious case (grade 3) can be debilitating."

These were the same things that they were saying in Edmonton last year. Everyone thought that if Maas could regain the form he had in 2001 there would not be a problem. Well, Maas held up his end of the bargain, unfortunately, their were other problems. I can definitely see the same thing happening to the Argos as everyone will be out to 'knock off' the defending champs.

To me it was never about what I accomplished on the football field, it was about the way I played the game.
