Brazzell expected to sign with Hamilton or Ottawa

Free agent receiver Chris Brazzell is expected to choose his new home on Friday, with Hamilton and Ottawa the likely choices.

Brazzell, who caught 49 passes for 906 yards with the B.C. Lions last year, is looking for some security for his young family.

''There is money,'' Brazzell told the Hamilton Spectator. ''And I'm looking at the quarterbacks and the receivers. You have (Danny) McManus versus (Ottawa passer) Kerry Joseph. McManus, I understand he is old (40) and Joseph is young. I understand (Marcus) Brady is the backup and he is suppose to be a up-and-coming guy.

''But I haven't heard how Ottawa would use me in the offence. I've heard what Hamilton wants to do and I like it. And the thing is, Hamilton is very sincere. Hamilton made it clear from day one that they were interested.''

I remember watching him the year before he bolted for BC.. had one great TD run, and I thought "I gotta watch this guy".. hasn't impressed me since.

If we hadn't gotten Ed back here in Edmonton, I would have taken him, but he's not the kind of receiver we need in my opinion.

With them losing Breedlove I'm not surprised.

While Joseph may be 31, he could play the game at a high level for another 5-6 years. That is a long time in the professional sports world.

To me it was never about what I accomplished on the football field, it was about the way I played the game.

With Damon Allen and Danny Mac playing he may as well be a spring chicken.

                            Tiger-Cats lure in Brazzell

Sportsnet.ca -- Free agent wide receiver Chris Brazzell has agreed to terms with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, the TEAM 1040 in Vancouver is reporting.

The former B.C. Lion signed a one-year deal, plus an option that could tally $130,000 with incentives.

"Those guys were sincere from the get-go," Brazzell told the radio station. "I was the guy they were after even though there were some other free agent receivers out there. (Danny) McManus still has some stuff left in the tank."
