Well, no S**T Sherlock. It's a little bit tough to bring 80 some players back.
Saskatchewan Roughriders general manager Eric Tillman is cautioning fans that the team will not be able to sign all of its free agent this offseason.
"There will be changes as a result of free agency," Tillman tells the Regina Leader-Post.
"There will be players who decide to go elsewhere for other reasons and some of those decisions will be made by us. In some cases, the public will never know that was our thought process but it might be circumstances where we can go younger with a player or we might want to spend our money elsewhere."
Among those who may not return is middle linebacker Maurice Lloyd. Tillman says he has made a six figure offer to the CFL all-star and is awaiting a response from his agent.
"We want him back but we understand that it's a business," said Tillman. "Mo had a terrific year and if they opt to wait until February to see what the financial landscape is, we understand that.
"It all depends on what he wants in terms of compensation."
The B.C. Lions are believed to be one team who would be interested in Lloyd if he pursued free agency. While Lloyd admits Saskatchewan has the edge in re-signing him, he says other factors besides money will play a part in his final decision.
Among the 16 other Roughriders who will be eligible for free agency are starting linebackers Anton McKenzie and Sean Lucas as well as veteran offensive linemen Gene Makowsky.
The CFL free agency period begins February 15th.
