    Blockbuster: Argos, Stamps make deal
    February 17, 2010

    Argonauts.ca Staff

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. -- The Toronto Argonauts Football is thrilled to announce that it has acquired CFL All-Star receiver Jeremaine Copeland from the Calgary Stampeders in exchange for WR P.K. Sam.

Jim Barker, Head Coach, Toronto Argonauts, commented, “Jeremaine is a productive receiver who brings a presence to our receiving corps. I’ve won championships with him in three different cities and I don’t believe there is a player in the world who is better with a ball in the air than Jeremaine. Beyond his abilities as a receiver, he brings with him many intangibles. He will bring to our locker room and to the field the veteran leadership it takes to win.”

Sure Cope was getting long in the tooth... but I think this weakens the Stamps. Sam is o.k. ... but not great IMO.

Sam is a good receiver, and so is Romby Bryant....but that's a whole lot of chemistry that just got traded out of Calgary. Copeland was getting up there in age, but this hurts Burris.

The way this played out - with the Argos signing Sam first - makes me think that the stamps were the instigators here.

            it would seem so.....

I never thought Sam was a "great reciever" and I certainly didnt understand the hype that tsn had for him... I felt Sam was just another receiver, nothing to great and not bad either.. I guess we'll see when he has a decent QB throwing to him..

A cap clearning move. Who is Nicole going to play drop the soap with now?

                      Aha! Now it makes sense!!

It seems that Cope took a massive pay cut to go to Toronto simply because he's also going to act as the choreographer for the Argos Cheerleaders.

I'm sure he can keep himself busy with one of his alter-egos: Nicolo Dimes, Eight-Deuce, Geronimo Jones...

Good trade for the Stamps. Sam struggled a bit last year with drops but he has the talent to be a 1000-yard receiver. 500 yards in six games in 2008 was impressive any way you slice it.

Cope likely doesn't have a Buhl or Malveaux to go at for 500 yards this year...
