    Travis Moore re-signs in Regina...

According to a pretty good source that has reiterated what was said on Sportsline in Regina last night, it looks like Travis Moore will be back in the green and white for another season.

Worst kept secret in the CFL - this has been flying around for nearly 3 weeks now. Next you will give us the "shocking" news that Rob Lazeo has re-signed with the Riders, right?
Can't see as how anyone really could have used Moore outside of the Riders. Calgary maybe, but I don't think anyone was going to give him the $90K he was looking for outside of you guys anyways.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses - Elwood Blues

If it was such common knowledge I guess you should have told Danny Barrett so that he could have saved some time in negotiations.

This was not as done a deal as you make it out to be but thanks for the warm response.

Anytime ...its only been floating around everywhere for the better part of a month, so it is no big surprise. Noone else had expressed any interest, so it was only a matter of time, and trust me - Barrett knew it too.
You should be starting Thurmon in that spot anyways & saved yourselves the money...

          Thats what TC is for
This will not be Moore's spot, hes gonna have to earn it this time around.

How old is Moore now? 39? Washed up. Cant believe Im saying this, but the Riders have better receivers that will step it up ahead of Moore.

May not have been any other takers but it was also rumoured that he was just going to retire.

Rumours are just that. It was also rumoured that Burris was going to re-sign in Regina and that a certain Eskimo receiver was going to sign in Ottawa. I guess we know how those situations worked out. Rumours aren't worth the paper they're written on.

As for Moore's role, seeing as you've known all about the inner workings of the Riders for so long, you also know that Thurmon is pencilled in as the starter and Moore may only be a part timer. I still like the leadership that he brings to the room and the help he'll provide to the younger guys.

Moore is 34 and was the leading receiver on the team last year.

Yes, the Riders do have a good corps of receivers which is a nice situation to be in for a change. Not many years in the last ten or fifteen that the Riders have brought back the same group of guys for two years in a row. The continuity will be nice.

Both are getting up there in age, but can be effective if used properly.

I agree. Mookie had 10 TD's last year...he's a go-to guy when we're in the red zone, he always seems to get open in the end zone.
And Moore's still got pretty good hands (thanks for bringing him up I was trying to forget that one-handed catch he made against the Esks last October ).

Good for Moore if it works out. Has always been an entertaining player regardless of team. The only sure position a "senior citizen" can hold onto in this league appears to be QB or O-line. Maybe he should work on his throwing skills....

It was rumored that he was going to retire because he had no other bargaining leverage contract-wise. That didn't work out either, as Barrett & Shivers played hard ball with him.
Rumors are one thing, negotiations are quite another. Burris & Hervey were openly negotiating with more than one team, and believe it, those aren't rumors - that's fact. Moore's only option was the 'Riders, the team wasn't negotiating, so his rep throws out the retirement line as a burr in the saddle & try to spark a sense of urgency.
And seeing as how you feel that only people from Saskatchewan could possibly know anything Rider-related, here is a tip: I can tell you right now, if your team's leading receiever comes back, he'll be getting just as many if not more snaps than Thurmon. Write it down, cause it'll happen, despite you thinking Thurmon has the spot already.

That's fantastic but one flaw. Moore was rumoured to be retiring right after the end of last season so it's not like there had been any opportunity for him to shop around but, yes, I know that you likely know a lot more about it than any Rider fan could.....and I'm not from Saskatchewan but do profess to know a little about what's going on so I guess that shoots down your assertion on that front as well....

It actually isn't a flaw, as his injury situation needed to improve (remember the WSF?) or he would have had no choice but to retire. Once that became a little more apparent in that it wasn't career threatening, Moore was definately open to negotiating with the Riders - who knew that A:there was little outside interest in him & B: the Thurmon situation put Moore over a barrel. He had plenty of time to shop around, but seriously, there was little interest in him, especially at the price tag he had hung on himself.
But as for the condesention, you might want to reserve that until you know something about who you speak to, and leave open the possibility that people on here just might have some inside info & contacts when it comes to situations like this.
