Re: Black eye for the CFL
well, for the NFL it is an official league wide thing, and good for them. That was a poorly written article, IMO to suggest that the CFL MUST support breast cancer awareness. Not every pro sports league has the pink October so its not the end of the world for the CFL to be not the same as the NFL. If you don't like it, contact the league and ask them to observe breast cancer awareness month, league-wide.Last edited by SandManFan; 10-19-2010, 04:30 PM."Because this Eskimo experience is not made for just anyone" - KP

Now...don't get me wrong...I think that the Pink October thing is great for raising money money and awareness for breast cancer and all. (I've lost my fair share of friends and family to different types of cancers) But where does a league draw the line? I mean, if they do breast cancer this month, what's next month, and then the next month...how do you decide which more than worthy charity gets the attention? It sucks that everyone needs to raise money and awareness for each and every cause...but wow...there are a lot out there.
As an example, in the office there's been...
Girl Guides
Boy Scouts
MS Relay
Terry Fox Run
Run For The Cure
and on and on and on...Once an Eskimo, ALWAYS an Eskimo.

As brutal as that sounds, you're bang on.Originally posted by boydo View PostNow...don't get me wrong...I think that the Pink October thing is great for raising money money and awareness for breast cancer and all. And without even going that far from what the 'pink' is supposed to support, what about support for Prostate Cancer? (A greater proportion of men will be affected than that than women by breast cancers) Lung or Pancreatic Cancer? (both are almost always fatal) Heart and Stroke? (More people die from heart and stroke problems than any cancer) Etc.
don't get me wrong, I'm all for showing any and all support, but like boydo says, if you say yes to one, how do you justify saying no to others?Turf Toe:
- "...turf toe is a common malady that is more of a nuisance than a serious injury."
- "Turf toe can often progress into a chronic problem..."
- "A mild instance of turf toe (grade 1) can be merely aggravating while a serious case (grade 3) can be debilitating."

Hey, any player can support Movember (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Movember ) and it wouldn't even be a uniform violation.

I agree with boydo, there are any number of great causes out there
That said, if I was the players who got shot down, I'd just go out there and wear it regardless and basically dare them to fine me... cause if the league did, the scorn that would be coming their way would be monumental.Look. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

Re: Black eye for the CFL
They ran a story about Chunky Adams here in Saskatchewan, who last year wore pink shoe laces to show support for his mother who is a survivor. He was told that he would be sent off the field, the team would get a 15 yard penalty, and he could not return until his laces were changed. This would obvisously hurt thr team, they would lose 15 yards and a player until the uniform is fixed.Originally posted by Inquiring Mind View PostI agree with boydo, there are any number of great causes out there

Does the league need to draw the line, yes. When a player has a connection to something, and it is not that obvious (really who the hell looks at a players shoe laces), Then I see no reason why not. How different is this then the Esks wearing the number 83 under their jersey?"Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy."

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.
