Heard the Riders are going to sign him to the PR. Wish we had this guy as he is a good RB. The problem is the O-line run blocking however.

Re: Yvenson Bernard
We just got rid of better.
Why on earth would we need him, and if the Riders are looking for a RB, why haven't they jumped on AW yet? AFAIK he still hasn't signed with the Lions. Before you insult a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you insult him, you'll be a mile away, and have his shoes.

Re: Yvenson Bernard
We pass a lot to our backs, due at least in part to the fact that our receiving corps is so weak, and I’m guessing that may be an issue with AW. Don’t know if Hall has an issue with him but I’m guessing he will have been consulted. Taman also knows Bernard from their Winnipeg days. I’m happy with either one, and I’m just happy that we’re continuing to rebuild our talent base.Originally posted by Opus View PostWe just got rid of better.

Just how many running backs do you think the Eskimos need?Originally posted by Oiler View PostHeard the Riders are going to sign him to the PR. Wish we had this guy as he is a good RB. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

I'm guessing they weren't watching the 2009/10 Eskimos. Passing to the backs? NEVER happened.Originally posted by Nermal View PostWe pass a lot to our backs, due at least in part to the fact that our receiving corps is so weak, and I’m guessing that may be an issue with AW. You’re more familiar with him than I am, but at the time of his release from the Esks there were a number of posts here that talked about his drops and suspect hands as a reason. I take it you disagree?Originally posted by gizmo fan 2 View PostI'm guessing they weren't watching the 2009/10 Eskimos. Passing to the backs? NEVER happened.

Re: Yvenson Bernard
Depth is never a bad thing as witnessed by the many injuries this team has had for many years. For some reason our scatback Porter hasn't been able to break out, but fortunately messam has been picking up the slack. If we were put on this earth to help others, what were the others put on earth for?

Re: Yvenson Bernard
He had close to 10 months out of ball due to injuries...and didn't make it in this year until game 4, without a full camp IIRC and much practice afterwards.Originally posted by Nermal View PostYou’re more familiar with him than I am, but at the time of his release from the Esks there were a number of posts here that talked about his drops and suspect hands as a reason. He needs game time to get his feel back. We saw it in his first year in his first game, and we saw it this year too. He'll have iffy hands for a game or three, and then he'll be at or above the standard of the rest of the league. The more he is used consistently, the better he gets.
He didn't have a fumble in 16 straight games, which included 247 touches rushing and receiving (not including KR), from Sep 26/09 to Jul 23/11. Obviously a guy that has chronic ball security issues. We're cheering Fight Fight Fight On Eskimos...

We're not talking about fumbles. We're talking about catching the ball, but whatever. Obviously we like Bernard better than AW, but I would have been happy with either. Both are an improvement over Charles.Originally posted by gizmo fan 2 View PostHe had close to 10 months out of ball due to injuries...and didn't make it in this year until game 4, without a full camp IIRC and much practice afterwards.

Re: Yvenson Bernard
Well, "suspect hands" can refer to both fumbles and drops. Like I said before too, he can obviously catch the ball if he led the division in RB receiving even with his horror first game.Originally posted by Nermal View PostWe're not talking about fumbles. I'm not necessarily arguing for Whitlock over Bernard, maybe Bernard fits there better. But a lot of people gave Whitlock awfully short shrift on the way out here and completely overlooked what he'd done previously. We're cheering Fight Fight Fight On Eskimos...

Yep.Originally posted by Opus View PostHe's barely touched the ball.
23 carries in 3 games, and 1 reception. (23-67 2 TD, 1-5 1 TD)
Tough to break out when you're getting 1/3 of the carries one might expect a starting RB to have.
Messam, meanwhile, has 63 carries in 6 games (bigger marker there might be that he's played all six). And 8 catches, all in the last 3 games.
I'm of the belief that Messam is the 1st-choice RB at this point. McCarty and Porter are now just there for spot duty, it seems. We're cheering Fight Fight Fight On Eskimos...
